How much is "safe" to haul in a T1 industrial?

I would say no more than 30 to 40 million and then not through hazardous or well known troublespots and only on short journeys. Tbh the T1 transports should really only be used for emptying PI material in high sec and doing level four distribution missions.

The t1 Battle Haulers (Sigil, Badger, Nereus, and Wreathe) can be tanked to F-U levels, have pretty good align times (for haulers), and generally are too crunchy for the typical gate camp. I wouldn't haul more than 100 mill worth of stuff in them, but YMMV.

For the really expensive stuff, get a blockade runner (immune to cargo scan, can use cov ops cloak) or try the new hotness, the new improved Deep Space Transport (with microjump, course).

The new DST has, effectively, a huge cargo bay, is incredibly hard to lock down, and has OMFG levels of tank (properly fitted, of course).

All of the above assumes you are not autopiloting.

Depends on your defenses and sec status. I haul through a few high-sec jumps with about 300mil ISK of PI in an Epithal, because I can fit the MWD+cloak trick (I still tend to avoid Uedama, of course). This trick makes you practically invulnerable in high-sec, if you actively use it. Same for the Badger. The Itty is a bit disappointing because it can hold a whopping 35k-40k m3 with a decent fit but the tank and align are just terrible.

Align -> Cloak -> MWD is how you use this trick. It can get you out of even crowded gatecamps, unless you really mess up the align or get very unlucky.

You hit the cloak in the first tick, and you have about one tick to hit the MWD before the cloak prohibits it,

Once you master this you can haul relatively safely in low and nullsec.

The cardinal rule in EVE: Don't fly more than you can lose. Personally, in a T1 hauler, I've never moved more than 100m at a time in one, but I also had the capital to absorb that kind of loss. When starting out, I wouldn't go much above 10-20m.

No amount is really completely safe, anywhere. Some people will pop you for the fun of it, and not care one bit about the cargo.

I'm going to have to agree with the 100M figure for T1 haulers. I tend to go with about 2500-3000 isk per HP as my limit.

The Badger, Nereus, and Wreathe can pack silly tanks and can be made to align like a cruiser if you're prepared to sacrifice some cargo space. The Sigil is also good, but I can't fly it so I don't know.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Any amount you want a long as you either tank properly or outfit for evasion properly and or have a scout help you along the way. Learn to fly the ship at it's highest level, learn the attached skills for flying all ships at highest level possible and apply common sense to your fitting like all tank or maximum align/agility/warp stabbed out. Don't try to mix a concept to much like half tank and half cargo etc.

Don't anti-tank your ship unless you have escorts and scouts and a decently safe(r) route.

Don't auto-pilot unless you ask me for a good safe dependable route first as well. Better yet, don't autopilot...

It varies. If i were in a gank vexor and the targets were few i'd go for a 100mil hauler. I've also hauled around 500mil in a t1 indy between hubs and been fine. If you're careful and use the techniques available you could probably haul any amount and be fine.

It depends on the size of your balls. In HS all you need is MWD and T2 cloak.

I don't worry about amount so much as making sure I take all the precautions available. Tank, scout known bad spots, etc and things generally go well. That is of course my hauler alt perspective. My advice to others is to maximize that cargo hold and pack as many high isk goods inside as will fit!!! Tank is for suckers and autopilot is a convenience you should take advantage of!! The maximum "safe" amount to haul is the amount you are prepared to kiss goodbye to if your ship explodes.

More than 100m, and I'd pop it just for lulz.

200 mill. cloak and mwd every time. Scout low, null and Uedama. Use stabs (2) and shield extenders. Agility rig.
