I can add two more names to the "this trailer is why I'm playing EVE" list: myself, and the friend who showed it to me.

I last logged in in 2009, but seeing that trailer (and looking up all the great changes that have happened in the years since) made re-subscribing a no-brainer.

Sure, I found out my drug cartel corp had dissolved years ago leaving me stranded with all my stuff in Solitude. Sure, I lost a cargo ship full of stuff because---in my peerless wisdom---I flew the lumbering beast, defenseless and unescorted, through a low-sec bottleneck.

But damn was it fun!

And damn is it pretty!

Seriously, this is the most consistently gorgeous game I think I've ever played! It's more than just the jaw-dropping ships, stars, nebulae and other space stuff (my favorite little aesthetic perk: I love how, when you set a destination, your lines of travel actually show up against the background of stars outside of the map window)---the spectacular visuals extend to things you wouldn't really "expect" from a space MMO, like character design. I mean, look at me! I'm gorgeous! (You should seriously outsource your character customization system to Bioware: It's impossible to make even a slightly attractive individual in any game they've ever made.)

Although I wasn't expecting that despite the amount of players whine about bombers and getting bombed, nobody bats an eye when the game is advertised through them :)

Best trrailer I've seen in eight years... well done CCP

I'm watching it instead of logging in...

Devs need to pull their heads out. When I watch these videos it makes me think of the heavy dependance upon others and alt accounts in a supposedly "sandbox" game, the elitism of the nerds and power trippers who take crusty old game way too seriously, the paper-rock-scissors gameplay.

Suicide ganking is legal griefing.

scam bots add nothing to the game. nobody buys that BS about making the game more "harsh and dangerous". That is just an excuse for not being willing to spend the money to police it.

grief-monkeys have all the advantages and pay no significant penalties for their actions.

A trailer isn't going to change that.


Also, CCP Rise destroyed a playstyle when he changed the Rattlesnake unnecessarily, a ship that was considered UP solely out of its lower DPS. It only needed an extra low slot. The rebalance of this SP intensive ship amounted to no more than tinkering. It was turned on its head from one of the most versatile ships in the game to a specialize DPS boat. An extremely callous way to treat your customers.
