I think a lot of the problem with the newbie experience is that there is a lack of knowledge about how to play the game. An experienced player starting over would be easy.

Alright, so after a first bumpy outing, and after being suicide ganked twice... it looks like twitch chat have decided that they want me to start working towards getting hold of a fully fitted Atron.

That'll be the goal, then P

I haven't saw the first day yet. I want to add some proposition - You should not except any donations from players as that would make things way to easy

Falcon, I highly encourage you to see if you can get an exception to existing CCP rules to be able to put that character into a player corp.

I'd love to see you join one of the corps I am at war with, ideally one of the skittish ones, teach them to fight back, and get some big kills with your frigate or destroyer.

Also, how are you feeling about what I consider to be the only drawback to the tiericide initiative, the increased cost of cruiser hulls relative to new player income? Can you log how many gameplay hours it takes you to reach the point that you can afford to undock in a cruiser? (Remember, never undock anything you can't afford to lose).

Inb4 you go -10.0 again (seriously you have to kill a lot of pods today to achieve that so it is not even easy to get there)

Lol - sorry Falcon but once you have popped your cherry you can't do it again. Especially as a dev who announces his game.

I did a new char a while back and within 5 days was a billionaire. I had the mechanics in my head. Just like you. In my first go it took me a week to make a million.

You can't be a new player with 10 years experience behind you.

Why not offer to find a new player and cinematise his/her experience and make one of those awesome player movies?!

Edit - didn't mean to be a downer - soz about that =(

Aaaaaaand relax.

You cant replicate a new player experience once you know the ins and outs of eve.

I know that if I wanted to start over and make a lot of isk, I could do it. But that doesnt mean anything to newbros because they DONT HAVE THE INFORMATION THAT I HAVE. It took me years to learn stuff about eve, years. Arguably the most important things I have learned in eve have not come from In game tutorials but by Pilots who make videos explaining things and put them on Youtube.

The community is amazing for this, however through the years Eve has changed A LOT. look up something about eve, for example: The Rifter. Google it, and you will find out dated info from when it was King of space, and guides on how to fly it. As a newbro you now have to filter through 2009 ect and then google more to make sure if the info is not Outdated.

Thats a pain in the ass for a new player. Eve is the only game I know where you can google a feature and have 5 guides explaining it, but yet all those guides will be outdated and useless. Thats frustrating.

CCP cant clean up google or the internet, but they can make it super easy for Newbro's to find information. CCP needs a youtube page dedicated with Video guides made by players and staff. The "live action movies" are great, but they dont help new players learn the game. Its time to make a change and be productive on the new player front.

1. Gather player made Videos that are not outdated and showcase current mechanics like Probing, combat site running, exploring, Faction Warfare, Mission running, ect. Have a link in game to these features, so they can be easily accessed without any forum searching.

2. Make a new series called "This is MY Eve." Now you showcase different jobs in Eve. Exploring, Piracy, Faction Warfare, Nullsec, wormholes, ect. These videos will be player/developer made, and need to be produced in t the same quality as "this is eve."

Open scene- You see a cloaked stealth bomber. The pilot introduces himself, and talks about how the explorers of Eve are polluting space with new technology that hinders your lifestyle. You then see he is cloaked at an exploration data/relic site. An explorer appears, music picks up. The pilot unstealths, locks the explorer and fires a volley, but surprisingly does not kill him. He then starts a conversation with the explorer, and asks for a ransom. The explorer pays, and the pirate lets him go.

"This is MY Eve"

That could be done with every profession in Eve, and players will be glad to do it.

3. Add simulations in game for the tutorials. Eve tutorials are horrid. They are confusing, full of paragraphs that no one wants to read, and pretty tedious. Everyone I have gotten into Eve always have a rougher time with the tutorial than actually playing the game. Granted, you need to get the basics down, but you also need to get people into the game.

-Have tutorials that show case a FW novice plex.

- Have a tutorial show casing the meta of PvP fights (Kite ships, Scram kiting, and Brawling, 1 tutorial for each)

-Have a tutorial that showcases how to "slingshot"

- Have a tutorial that showcases how to "spiral" into an opponent.

- Have a tutorial that showcases how a smaller ship can kill a bigger ship. (This will help curve the idea that one needs to fly the biggest ship right away to succeed in pvp)

- Have a tutorial showcases a hero tackle scenario.

-Have a tutorial that showcases a fight with an opponent with superior SP, and how the Newbro can still come out on top with good flying skills. This would be hard, but could be done. This would get rid of the misconception that newbros needed to start Eve back in 2006 to compete now

Your tutorials do not direct people into "PvP." Its the players on the forums that do that. If a newbro followed your tutorials currently he would end up doing a mission for security/distribution or mining in high sec, and then they log off and never log on again because you just led them to the most boring and unrewarding part of Eve, and that is your fault as developers for doing so.

The players time and time again, bail you out of the tutorial mess by posting guides, making videos and above all, making sure every "newbro" who posts is given tons of information that you as developers neglect.

Starting a new char when you have 8+ years in eve and streaming it is a gimic, and nothing more. All you are showcasing is how many "big dicks" in eve can gank a developer while he streams.

P.s. When you do all this and it increases newbro subs 100 fold Ill except payment in the form of Plex.

Has your innocent, unspoiled new capsuleer ventured into Anoikis yet, Falcon?

I keep forgetting who your new toon is but everytime I see a T1 scan frig on D I ask in local if it's you. Got a Banana and glass of warm water on standby yo.

I am a bit confused.

I thought the process of this was to learn the new player experience?

No new player gets given ships for free and helped with fittings unless they meet someone nice in game or join a corporation.

By accepting anything given from someone on here will be against what a new players experience is like and you will have learned nothing about the new player experience.

Plus the fact that you have stated the new toon name is also flawed as most people now know you are a CCP Employee and will get loads of friend requests and people wanting to talk to you.

Again this is not something a new player gets at all.

You should have done this with no one knowing the name so you get nothing for free or anybody helping you in game other than people you meet and people you want to talk to.

You would then have been able to join a player corp and see how easy or hard it is to do this successfully.

Great Idea but not done correctly
