If it's anywhere in lowsec, your pod is the best way to travel in lowsec. It'd be pointless to travel with someone else.
Unless you mean travelling in a t3 through nullsec. Otherwise jumpclones are what you need, possibly.

I think I remember people at CCP talking about this sort of thing. When they were thinking about ships like titans with multiple pilots and how they could do it. I think they couldn't work out what to do when one or a few disconnect.

I take a taxi all the time, I sold my car a long time ago for more taxi money. Hopefully we can tell eve taxi drivers to go to all four major trade hubs and say LEFT or RIGHT randomly to make them plot a new course.

So if you can take a Taxi does that mean you can kidnap people? Because that would be awesome! Or how about a Bus? Stations are Jita, dixie, rens, amarr.

Offer the ability to put a jump clone in some kind of item, move item like any other.

This. Transport for JUMP CLONES not your active pod. If you lose it, no big deal - buy another one. Better than wasting an hour jumping across the galaxy.

Excellent idea.

Not empty quoting.

As I meet 1 other (a partner) in their CQ, dock or meeting area before they smuggle me, or could meet them there.

I'm curious as to how you see this working.

1. What happens if you are online and doing something when somebody accepts the courier contract?
2. What happens if they open the package, discover you inside and decide to jettison you?
3. What happens if they load you into cargo and decide to never let you go?

I'm all for passenger transportation.

I'm also up for offering my passengers up to the highest bidder.

See, this is the kind of half-assed brony crap that brought us Incarna in the first place.

Which, in turn led to Crucible...

ok, not sure what everyone else has responded iwth, but 2 problems...

1) currently any attempt to render mroe then a single avatar in an environment makes computers cry
2) players being in cargoholds with the current way the server and system works would make the hamsters cry.

so while interesting ideas, they wodlnt work out without a MASSIVE overhaul to mechanics and pther shiznit im not entirely educated in (only dabble a bit in programming)

It's mentioned but cannot hurt to repeat, especially since this taxi thing pops-up now and then.

Your clone is your taxi. Every 24 hours you can use it.

or what happens when they decide to put you in a corp hangar? or in a corporate cargohold? along with 500 other victims, and proceed to maniacally laugh as they blow it up.

I like this idea, especially if used in tandem with an ability to launch ships from another one you are "docked" in.

My vision: Orca rapid deployment of several Catalysts, already piloted, next to a Hulk.

Can't wait to dual box my Dust toon and EVE toon on the same machine!

Here's the thing. What is to stop me from never, ever removing you from my cargo hold or docking, ever again? Create an alt, advertise taxi services to X destination for cheap in Jita local, undock, emergency warp, assassination complete.

There could be a 'safety hatch' i.e you can eject yourself in case of an emergency, like they have in car trunks.

CCP could make fighters pilotable and low-sp new corp members could be launched out of carriers like bees! doing 1.5x damage!

Allow us to hire someone to smuggle us into enemy territory and/or get us into an enemy station...

I like it.

This would be a heavily used tactic, and totally within the mechanics provided. Much as I don't like suicide ganking, it is a great strategy for that end.

Orca pilots could potentially take advantage of the same function, only drop out a couple hulks for mining.

Carriers would be useful as carriers of small fleets.

There are quite a few areas of potential for this idea beyond just a taxi service. It also adds a whole new aspect to the current mechanics of local. If someone is being ferried through a system, do they show up in local? If they don't show up in local, do they get listed on the kill-mail if their transport is taken out?
People with multiple accounts could really make the anti-AFK-cloak crowd go rabid. Group of 5 people or so jump into a system, but only one ship shows on d-scan/combat-scan.
Dawn of the age of mini-hot-drops.

This would totally suck for miners, but as PvP and sandbox mechanics go, it is an idea that has a lot of options.

Profit favors the prepared
