Enjoyed the chronicle, but I was under the impression that the goal was to make more of the OOC data available IC, not to add more OOC data we cannot use.

I'm afraid I have to disagree. The previous era of Chronicles are different by authorship and style by necessity. If you do your homework you will understand the staggering weight of history each new chronicle has to support. Most capualeers go about their selfish business blithely unaware of how profoundly their (to them routine) actions are effecting the world around them.

It is a trick of the mind, the chronicals only report a facet of the immersion you are already drowning in.

I think it's great CCP is doing Chronicles, but I must say it really irks me that the newer ones have boiled down to advertisements.

The first one since Crucible was for POCOs, this one for the new T2 modules.... It's like instead of creating a background for the game you're using it to advertise the expansion.

Shame.

Yeah i have to say sadly i dont like that is just about patch stuff or about player driven content. Eve is so vast and most of things never got explained or even hinted. At least the stories provided in the past some entertainment and dark humour and pulled players into eve deeper in terms of feeling.

Pleased to have confirmation of a tribal language. Would love to know more about the language ecology of the Republic.

I agree completely. Chronicles in the past had pitched some characters in some corner of New Eden and went on to tell a story with them, extending the lore a bit here and a little there.
They weren't there to explain some current game design issues, but to immerse players and present EVE from a different angle, to expand the game's world and - maybe most importantly - to provide inspiration for future game design changes.

In short: I'm afraid you're doing this the wrong way around.

I enjoyed this little blurb. I'm especially interested in a t3 pod. It would be nice to see a pod upgrade to protect those extra valuable implants that some of us spend billions of isk on. Something hard to make but provides pods with the equivilant of a tech 2 warp stab. More t2 mods are nice and if the Scientists need any help my rates are reasonable.

Is the Chronicle set in the past, so we'd have these T2 modules already? Or is it in the present, hinting at modules to come?

umm... i'm fairly new to the Chronicle scene... but I think you're forgetting where Hilen Tukoss was previously employed and what he did as Program Director of the Otosela Neuropsychology Center... His name has been about as big as the the billboards at the jump gates can make it! But think about the keyword: Neuropsychology. wrap that up in a warm pod-pita, throw some Tech 2 cuccumber sauce, and you've got a shiny new implant gyro.... (sorry - it's late and i'm starving)

I don't think this is just advertising for what we already know is out there. I've followed Dropbears work on the deepspace Sleeper story for a bit, and he's very good at giving you enough reeses candies to keep you walking on the trail. I think there's something very fun coming up for the goo-riders INSIDE the pod. which would make those new implant-inclusive killmails so much more interesting.... just sayin'...

While I don't really understand half what is going on in the chronicle I do understand that some nice stuff and things are happining for those who have invested time and effort into this storyline. Having kept minimally abreast of the situation from a distance I get the drift though.

I applaud this and the writing style of CCP Dropbear, I do however would suggest that from now on the chronicles have a better layout, this kind of non text formatting is (for me at least).

Carry on.

Tie this in with the descriptions on the new implants and it does hint at the future possibility of player made implants. Maybe the next expansion will be named Cyberious... since Cyberia is already taken.

I think you have the right idea. Let's not forget Dropbear's last commentary about pod goo.

Could we please, pretty please, have the title of the chronicle in the html < title > tag of its page ?
I'm using Readability to send the new Chronicles to my Kindle, so I can read them on my way to work, and the absence of the title in a proper way on the chronicle page is making it needlessly painful.

TIA!

It's not OOC knowledge. Not really. It's things that people have already guessed at. The problem is, it's OOC confirmation of IC theories that cannot be proven IC. Anything brought up from this point forward is tainted by this chronicle. Looking at a lot of the Arek'jaalan project, I can honestly say there's quite a bit of it that is tainted by the OOC knowledge presented in chronicles. Not normally something I am opposed to, but this chronicle was kind of a kick in the teeth to some ideas I was moving forward with.

As I've told Dropbear before, I'm fine with meta knowledge staying meta. The problem is when it's blurred to the point that it makes the IC advances completely moot. It's a whole circular logic thing that kind of defeats the whole purpose, in my opinion, of trying to even attempt the Arek'jaalan project in-game.

That's my take though. As I had already made tentative steps to prove the exact things brought up in this recent chronicle literally days before it was posted... well, guess it's back to watching from afar. Cry

Give us something to interact with, and I'll be happy. Site One is nice, but it's not dynamic. Add to that another chronicle that pretty much says, "We're playing in this side of the sandbox and you guys play in that side," pretty much makes me want to walk.

That's my view on things though. Since I'm pretty much only in the game for the Arek'jaalan stuff at this point, it feels like a big sucker punch to the gut. I'll live though, and I still love you guys! I just might be a bit (more) scarce from now on.

If you can come up with in game indications or clues that hint towards the OOC knowledge we have gained from this chronicle then more power to you, Helen.

“Yes, that is certainly the reputation you cultivate. Anyhow, the specifics are this: Acting under the pretense of an arms race, the empires are about to release a number of new Tech II modules and capsule upgrades. The technology behind these developments is Sleeper in origin, and most of it was developed from material identified during the Vitrauze Agreement as practically worthless. If the origin of these modules and improvements were ever to become public knowledge, this agreement would need to be rewritten, something everyone would rather avoid.”

“Most interesting, Senator. Thank you for sharing this. I think I see how we can factor in here, too. Perhaps though, before going any further, now would be a good time to exchange the data and verify everything. If you can do that, and everything checks out, then I can promise you we will start pushing on the first site immediately.”

Beyond all the chronicle-background on upcoming Crucible features being introduced ...

Did anyone else read the passages in the quote above and go, "Hang on, WTF?". To me that seems to be saying that in order to cover up the 'pretense' of an arms race between empires, the signatories to the Vitrauze agreement intend to use the Arek'Jalaan project as the figureheads for the Sleeper origin tech that will be introduced in coming months. In return, Arek'Jalaan gets ... tacit empire support? Intel on groups intending to cause it harm? What else?

Or am I completely off the mark with this?
