#1 Current counts toward next storyline mission - by level for each faction
suggest integration into Agent Finder
why? accuracy and precision vs lost notes, mission crashes, etc
also demystify process for noobs -- very hard to explain via chat to some ppl

#2 Storyline Agent(s) matched to Mission Agent
in agent data and/or Agent Finder
TIME SAVER vs difficult & error prone star map process

#3 Storyline agent(s) match to Star systems
in system info and/or Mission Description
same as #2 but for when mission completion occurs away from issuing agent
(on spot remote mission turn in or Distribution delivery)
note: remote mission turn in favors system info listing of servicing storyline agents -- mission completion does not have to be where mission was performed but can occur as after thought anywhere in EVE

Of course this could be made even simpler if --

the storyline agent to be used was the same for all missions issued by a given regular agent regadless of where completed,

instead of dynamically determining storyline agents from location where regular mission #16 is completed (or location of character when server notices #16 turned in).

Basically the storyline agent to be used if a mission completion is #16 is a permanent database entry for any regular agent.

If agents are moved, the current storyline selection code could be run ONCE offline (during DT) for every regular agent and the results used to update that piece of regular agent data. Constant cached agent data saves a few server CPU cycles every day too.

Drawback:
Less interesting to those who like the mystery of where the storyline agent will be. Not that mysterious in te first place though if you have been running missions in same area for a while.

And yes this would make it easier to target storyline missions for piracy and ransom. Evil

Just in selection, set up and planning aspects though. Execution is still the same problem.

OP idea would have no real affect on the game so I say +1

There is always the comment about how hard can it be to count to 16 missions for each faction. The game even gives us notes we can attach to the agent or NPC to help us keep track of these things.

I would say no to any changes that make the location of the story line agent any easier to predict. If anything I would like to see a less predictable system put in place so you have the hassle of moving required ships to the location added into the go, no go decision for a story line.

I'd like a system whereby you talk to a storyline agent and sign up for service. You'd get the "I have nothing right now, but I'll be in touch." message, but no matter where you do those 16 missions, that's the agent (and corp & faction) you get the storyline mission from.
