It's not about tricking people into honour 1v1 brawls. It¨s about going against multiple enemies and comming out on top.

Very sound advice here. There is no such thing as an Honor fight in Low-Sec. If it happens, count your blessings and move on before someone notices.

If you get into FW for "dueling" then you need to examine your resources. FW is simply one versus many, or small gang PVP. Sometimes Larger fleets.

Personally, I recommend T3's if you want to survive. They cost a pretty penny, but generally you're not going to have a Brawling Deimos fleet ready to brutally demolish you. if you understand what you're doing.

This. I will often take fights of 1v many to see how long I can survive.. partly due to the fact I have no patience waiting for the "true" 1v1. Even if you don't get any kills, successfully piloting around 3-4 enemy pilots, destroying drones, taking pot shots, is still good experience.

Yeah, but this scenario is not what was originally asked for by the OP. BTW, you can get that also truly solo with special fit ships and some imps/boosters. Multiboxing is a valid play style though ... for me I know it would kill the fun, because it requires meta-coordination outside of the sandbox ... which is scalable, i.e. why not add another char to even win more often / earn more ISK? This finally ridicules all achievements in the sandbox ...

Interesting questions. My two cents...

You can still find solo fights, gotta be patient and persistent. I find that initially a boosted newcomer will get some fights, but in FW low most peeps know their neighborhoods, and unless you are fairly nomadic, or just say you know what I do come and get it, your victims will adjust. Since living in your war zone is part of FW (for most), FW guys are pretty familiar with whose usually around and what they generally do. I'm thinking that'd be you.

I'd definitely suggest you use a ship that seems easy to beat but fitted right becomes a GOD! Most capsuleers will take on things they believe they can beat so think along those lines. If your sitting in a Garmur and mad because you can't get fights - look in the mirror.

Also, the engagement profiles in FW low is somewhat set because of the mechanics. T1 frigs in Novices, etc. So you gotta find a ship that suits the profile you wanna engage in or have several on hand so you can switch tactics.

As to the subject of honor - that comes from you, not your opponent. My definition of honor is always giving a good fight in local, and being appreciative of the opportunity for a fight.

Happy hunting,

Booster alts aren't worth it for solo. You get the best bang for buck by being smarter about how you fit your ships and what you engage, that's it.

As per the title I am looking to get the most bang for my buck with fighting in FW areas. I am wondering what the best solo frig/cruiser would be with a booster. Stipulation is that it would actually be able to get fights. I know a lot of people will just run from certain ships, or not even engage.

Also, would full snakes be viable to use in LS or has the insta-locking epidemic spread so much that pods get lost all the the time now?

Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

edit: Booster would be running a t3 with either armor/siege + info + skirmish @ t2 with faction implant.

Can you give me ur PvP character name(the one you want to fly with sna....boosts), i want to send you some free isk.

That Santo guy just wants to smartbomb your pod. I don't actually know if he gives out ISK though.

Beware the Santo of low sec.

Isn't 'Solo + Booster' an oxymoron?

It sounds like the OP is finding Eve a bit too challenging. I hear World of Warcraft just released an expansion...most MMOs are basically the same, right?

without booster you are mostly on the loosing end, since everyone else uses it its basically mandatory for "solo".
Same for scouts, because of idiotic gate horizon in eve noone can overcome "solo", you need an alt watching other side. Good for CCPs subscription numbers, bad for us.

The term solo is being used as a solo combat toon. Most people use this distinction, and you are just being a ****. Also, I assume that one day "soon" off grid combat boosting will be removed completely. I've proposed a few ideas to dictate the strength of the boosts you are getting from a ship in relation to how far away it is from you. Anything over 200k would be 0% boost, and would gradually increase the closer the ship got. Something like 100% up to 50k, 75% up to 100k, 50% up to 150k, 25% up to 200k, and 0% at 200+ (random, arbitrary numbers that came out of my ass).

And to the post above this one; It would be awesome if CCP allowed us to do a "scan" of the other side of a gate. Not really giving detailed information on ship type/who the people are, but allowing us to see how many ships are on the other side within X amount from the gate. Would be a huge boost to bringing back solo.

Funny, around 80% of my kills over the last few months on both characters have been solo or while dual-boxing.

Maybe you are just bad at PVP?

Solo + booster isn't solo.

And don't try the old "But i'm gonna go up against more than one person" bullshit. That's just lying to yourself.

An Archon would be the best booster post-Phoebe. It's super tough, so you don't have to worry about people ganking it and denying you boosts at a critical moment. Plus you can assign fighters to boost your solo dps.

I believe I have settled on using an Arbitrator with legion booster. Booster will be using fed navy mindlink with Passive def, electronic superiority, Evasive Maneuver, and Interdiction maneuver links (all t2).

Is the 1600 plate arbi still the go to, or is there another fit floating around right now.

I currently have:

Highs:
meta 4 small and medium nos
2x small smartbomb for drones

Mids:
Meta 4 scram
meta 4 web
2x meta 4 tracking disruptors

Lows:
2x ENAM
1x DCU
1x DDA
1x 1600mm

Rigs:
2x Trimark
1x Tracking Diagnostic Subroutines

Slightly worried about the speed, but I figure the scram will shut down a MWD and the web will allow me to get some sort of orbit going.

Before boosts it sits at around 30k ehp and roughly 280 dps using hammerheads.

Any suggestions on improving the fit?

This is also going to be used for trial and error while I get acquainted with flying this type of setup. Will be used to transition into a Pilgrim using nearly the same fit minus some small alterations to the highs, and added prop mod or cap booster in mid. This will eventually lead into running 2x recons (possibly dual pilgrim or pilgrim/arazu combo), and possibly dropping the booster as triple boxing for PvP may not be the best idea.

Oh boy.

I'd beg you to come visit Huola with that Arbitrator but we sorta kinda have a whole militia on our doorsteps already.
