The trailer is great indeed. But the problem still will be that people starting EVE because of this trailer will leave disappointed when looking at windows and brackets all the time.

Why isn't CCP releasing a script based BATTLE RECORDER to use the engine for post-editing and post-rendering every fight from cinematic perspectives? Can some DEV answer this? This idea is now out for years and was even supported by the CSM.

The soundtrack is a nice adaption from MAN OF STEEL and works perfectly.

Just look at the numbers of new character creation, it has spiked by 3x after the trailer. It's the BRB5 effect in action...

I've shown the trailer to people who know I'm a EVE freak and they all are in awe about it. Fortunately, they also have me to tell them the chances they have to experience anything shown in the trailer... and a esitmate of how much time and money would cost them to get there. Twisted

So did you tell them the truth, which is "not much". EVE is so much more accessible now than with I started, the Attack Battlecruisers that died in the pipe bombing take days to train from scratch, the bombers in the beginning segement don't take much longer, nor does mineing take a load of time to train a starter character. Brave Newbie, EVE U, Goons and others prove that you can jump head 1st into the 'good stuff' very early on.

A guy my buddy intorduced to the game and that I helped out with the loan of my spare Maelstrom last year was flying a faction gun machariel within 2 months of paying his 1st subscription fee in Incursion fleets (he bought the mach with isk he earned using the Maelstrom).

Another new guy wanted in to the combat right away, so I introduced him to the EVE Radio and Sir Squebbles chat channels, he flew a tech1 frig with meta guns his 1st time out. He died alot before getting on his 1st kill mail. A year later that guy is in a famous merc alliance screwing with goons in npc null.

It simply takes a player who is either a self starter (rather than the gamer standard "show me how" mentality) who goes and makes friends OR someone introduced to the game by friends. In other words, it takes an EVE player rather than a themeparker who would be better served by a themepark/hand-holding game.

Stop the presses! JennAside just demonstrated that it's not CCP who haves an issue with EVE and retaining new players, but 99.99% of humanity who have an issue with becoming a EVE player.

While you didn't mean to, you stumbled across the truth. 99.99% of all human problems and faults come from people being crap, the other 0.01 percent is earthquakes, volcanos and Tornadoes. Too many people like to blame something external (CCP) when the problem is litterally staring themselves in the mirror.

Absolutely 'EFFIN NAILED IT!!!

Exactly what the game, the community AND CCP needed... a right good kick up the a*** to realise what we all have here. I'm most impressed with the way the vets have taken to it and their exceptional help with newbros over this weekend since release. Outstanding across the board.

I feel very proud to be a small part in this exhilarating madness! :D

Whoever came up with the musical score for this deserves a kick ass award and CCP better not loose this person to another company!

This was epic. Only Quantum Rise and Incarna had better trailers.

Falcon,

Extremely well done promo vid!!

+1

It brought tears to my eyes and almost made me want to join a corp... almost...

Keep up the good work!

Perfect way to show Eve Online to friends in 3 minutes. Especially when the last video they saw was 3000 ships in Asakai in slow motion and a spreadsheet for 20 minutes :)

Fantastic work CCP and all those who contributed.

For me the guys from Bombers Bar really showcased the exhilaration of the game. Magnasis Drakkenwolf's segment displayed the quiet satisfaction of making progress in the worlds hardest MMOG and for this reason was well worth including. The other segments showing the contrasting play styles of RnK and BRAVE were excellent.

Player generated content and comms must be the way forward for Eve promos. I have not had time to read the whole thread and others may have said similar things, but the next one could include segments featuring other languages intermixed with english to demonstrate the international flavour of the game. If made available, we could see some of the different ethos of different players such as dirty cowardly pirates all the way to the almost quasi religious ethos of CVA. It is up to us, the players, to give CCP the material needed to showcase the best mmog out there.

Again well done CCP.

I saw the funniest comment on Mittani's site.

This is biased and is a direct eula violation by ccp itself..

this video promotes ingame alliances over other's.

this video promotes in game groups over other's.

this video is direct eula violation on behalf of ccp itself..

this video makes it harder for growing corporations / alliances to recruit.. pushing new pilots towards these entities listed in the video giving an unfair advantage to those struggling corps and alliances trying to become known..

this video and all others like it should be removed and never thought of doing again...

LOL I give it a 2/10 for trolling, nice try

It encouraged players to be social, to find corps alliances or even pickup groups like bombers bar, redemption road, or spectre fleet.

It shows people laughing as their fleet is wiped out.

More of the MORE I say and this time all you groups who ignored the last call for submissions . . . be part of something epic.

it truly is biased would not be an issue if they kept the alliance names out of the video..

I have found multiple rookies that have joined that are determined to join these entities over looking at other options.. because those alliance names were listed...

CCP could have taken the footage and the audio and placed it in no problem but overall listing these in game entities directly promotes for them as out of game propaganda keeping those not listed on the video with an unfair dis advantage to picking up new pilot's...
