1.36 gigs is a lot to take in all at once, even on a high speed connection it can take a while to download.

What exactly is this new gigantic download? Is it active or passive content that will be dormant until the new update in December?

I know you have a lot of content to push out for the new version coming in December but can you try to limit the size to 300 megs or offer a way to download content on demand / in chunks? I have no need for Titans or dreads models / textures right away, I will NEVER see one in highsec on TQ.

Also, I just want to point out that I already downloaded this from Singularity.... whatever it is. How about checking against that to make sure I'm not downloading the same thing for TQ....

I wish there was a checksum to compare downloads from singularity and TQ so we dont have to download content twice.....

Every day in every way I improve my skills and get better.

For what it is worth, I maintain a torrent to help those with poor connections.

EVE Online Windows Installer via BitTorrent

When I was between moves, I played EVE tethered to my mobile phone with a 1 GiB/month data plan. Game-play is fine, but I had to download every update via another connection.

When playing on SiSi, you can copy your main EVE folder to start, but SiSi is a test center, so it will get stuff that doesn't make it to TQ.

AFAIK hi res textures would be a lot larger than 1.36 gigs.

1.36GB is not very large for a game IMO.

Have you seen console games lately...I downloaded the demo of dragon Age Inuisition and its around 50 Gigabyte.
for a 6 hours demo

Also sunset overdrive (was free on xbox live on saturday for 24 hours)...22 Gigabyte if I remember correctly.

Time to upgrade that old smokesignal-modem ;)

Now you ruined all our hopes and dreams.... hundreds of pages of posts they said, would be enough to get high res textures they said... sigh!

They changed all textures from old pgs system (where you had "colored" diffuse texture, normal map, and pgs texture with specular map, mask, submask and lights) to the new one with "bleached" diffuse (ambient?) texture, and new pgr texture with reflection map (I guess) instead of specular map. Also each texture have medium and low versions and those also were updated.

You left the most important part, the part you can derive context and meaning from, out of my post, what the hell?!

There's a difference between a complete game (or a complete demo) and a patch though.

I have downloaded the new SISI updates and in my view I wouldn't care if it was 10 times bigger. These improvements to the visuals are worth it. Thanks CCP for the great eye candy and the new content. Big smile

CCP's sand box is EVE Online.  The sand is owned by CCP.  We pay them a monthly fee to throw the sand at each other.  That is all that is here, so move along. Nothing more to be seen.
