Hi all!

I have been away from the game for awhile, approx a year, and I come back to see that industry is completely changed! before I used to manufacturer carriers and a few dreadnaughts but I am curious to know how that (for lack of a better word) profession is currently? Better? worse? same? As someone who is considering getting back into manufacturing capital ships, is there anything now that I need to know that is new about the whole system? is calculating profitability easier or harder? Any information on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Different.

Dreads and carrier sales are probably up, since there is less chance of supers being dropped randomly on you.

However, capital production is more difficult, as mineral compression has been removed, forcing capital builders to pay a premium for compressed ore (now easier to obtain), or to haul a lot of minerals.

Reprocessing ore of course favours building in nulsec at an upgraded station.

Teams for material reduction on capital builds tend to be won by nulsec building conglomerates.

BPO ME and TE were greatly changed - you should check how your BPO's turned out. It can take a long time to research for a perfect BPO now.

Question: What happened with low-sec capital building after Crius? There was a lot of angst that it was going to become obsolete.

I think the majority liquidated their BPO, as there was a flood of researched BPO for sale on contracts at and below NPC price.

After Phoebe, there was a slight resurgence, thanks to jump-fatigue.

I don't think the lowsec capital production has recovered post-Crius, but it does appear to be on the rise. I've recently sold a large number of Phoenix BPC, which had been hanging-around since pre-Crius, to the point where I stopped making them and have been selling from stockpiles.
