Hi.

I have 3 hisec poses /caldari medium/ located 5-6 from Jita. Now I am using just one. Two poses are offline and not needed.

I would like to online these poses and make some semi-passive profit. I can even live without profit, if it can help to someone.
What are possibilites? what are advantages and disadvantages?

My ideas>
1. Alliance PE/ME slots renting - is there market for this?
2. Corp hangar rent to invividual or groups? Risky? is there market for this?
3. Any ideas?

Tnx

The biggest issues still remain the Factory Manager role permissions. Anyone with that role can not only install jobs in the labs, but they can also cancel any existing jobs (wasting time / materials / ISK). So you're back at the "who do you trust" issue, when it comes to allowing others to use your lab slots.

There are two basic ways to setup access to a tower:

1) Only allow ME/PE research. Keep the towers owned by a holder corp, form an alliance, allow corporations to join and use the labs for ME/PE. This keeps them out of your corporate hangars, denies them easy access to corporate information (such as office locations, tower locations, member list), and you can still charge fees for using the tower slots.

2) Bring people into the corp and give them their own wallet division and their own personal corporate tab. Which lets them do Invention/Copy/Manuf at the POS tower, keeps their stuff separate from everyone else's stuff, and the main risk is that the corp CEO will run off with all the BPOs / materials stored in the labs/hangars. Works very well when you have a loose confederation of friends who want to do copy/invention as each can do their own thing. Downside is that it doesn't scale past 5-6 people as you will run out of corporate divisions.

(Some people run a more lax approach of #2 with a shared common hangar tab for all the BPOs, a shared research wallet, etc. But you can easily run into theft issues if you allow "take" from that particular hangar tab. So it requires a trusted research manager to deliver the jobs and give the BPOs/results back to the proper owner. Which is a lot of effort for a non-paid position.)

Be warned that renting to alliance members depends on available offices in the same systems as the towers. Each corp that uses your POS to research will need its own office, and those can be scarce near Jita.

Contact me privately if you'd be interested in joining New Eden Research for the purpose of renting out labs slots. It's what we do.
