Good Machariel fit for lvl4's?

I will be buying a Machariel soon for incursions, I have been running lvl4's with my Dominix. But I'm getting a bit bored by it and I just wanna try Machariel for lvl4's as well, for the funs.

Now, I looked around a bit. And it seems the older fits is about fitting it with autocannons and shield tank.
Obviously with the shield bonus.

HOWEVER, I am mainly armor skilled. I can use T2 armor and got decent skills in it, while my shield skills are quite crappy (I'm pretty low SP char, just 7M).

So my main question is:
Any advice on good Machariel fittings, preferably with armor tank.
Whats better, artillery sniper or autocannons? I dont mind controlling the ship actively.



Any good examples would be very welcome! :)

armor fit is pretty much the same, just swap the TEs to armor tank and the shield tank to tracking comps. and there are a bunch of changes you can make for personal preference, but I'd probably fly this. maybe swap a Gyro for a DCII, or the MWD for an AB. pretty easy with the mach to keep moving so NPCs don't hit you all that much. and/or swap to specific hardeners.

also I keep the auto targeter offline and it is just there so I can lock 10 targets. a tractor beam is a decent idea for scooping mission completion items a bit quicker.

+1 Chainsaw the armor macharial is very good, a bit lighter on tank but it got much more tracking and range depending on how you script your TCs.

You probably want to use a cap booster like in Chainsaws fitting with lower skills. Also the dynamic full Valve is from before the pirate BS and mwd rebalancing, you are probably better off with a warp speed rig instead nowadays if you blitz or a targeting system sub controller to lock frigs faster if you play normally.

The AC version is normally considered better by the higher dps and tracking, the artillery mach isn't bad, but combining the high speed of the mach with the massive range of auto cannons on it and the much better ability to dispatch lots of frigs and cruisers in record speed by the higher tracking and rate of fire most people prefer the ACs on it.

If you fly it properly, quite well. I used to do buzzkill without ever using drones when I ran missions in an armor Mach.

Could you answer one most important question: what is maximum effective shooting range of Machariel armed with 800 mm autocannons against NPCs in level 4 missions??? I do not know how close get to enemy ships.

is this tank good enough for lvl 4 mission ? or you rely on MWD ?

This depends entirely on how fast you want to kill the rats and how ballsy you are multiplied by how strong your tank is. The Mach is a beast that requires a certain degree of finesse and experience to really fly well.

66km. It will still damage up to 80km but 66 is where the firepower kicks in and only gets better the closer you get. One point I will make is that T1 ammo in my experience the best ammo cost wise for pve.

Pretty much this. When fitting autocannons to a Machariel, the term "short-range" becomes very subjective. You can one shot frigates out to around 75-80 km. Farther if you switch to range scripts until they get close enough that you need the extra tracking.

And while I agree with Baltec on the uses of T1 ammo, if you're shooting the frigs at range, using Barrage offers you a good tradeoff of lower tracking (generally not needed since they'll pretty much fly straight at you until they reach their orbit range), for even greater range (1.5x bonus to falloff).

With the proper skills, fitting, scripts, and ammunition, you can blap small stuff at 100km - though you won't do much more than scrath the larger ships, so it pays to keep several ammo types and scripts on board for switching as needed.

You can go mostly T2 and still handle the hardest missions in the game in an appropriately-fit Machariel. I've run a ton of L4 missions in a fit very similar to this one. Despite the modest hit to efficiency, a Damage Control has saved my ship both when I was overconfident and under-skilled, as well as helped me survive one gank attempt (on an alt; you won't find it in this character's history because he's not Minmatar-skilled like, at all). 100% worth it for me, because I don't think in terms of ISK/hour but instead in terms of "I never want a fail-fit on a lossmail".

Fairly cheap fit: right around 900M ISK in Jita prices as of this writing. Cheaper than the Vargur the character is fully-skilled for, and if my goal is blitzing for LP instead of looting/salvaging, much faster at the job. Don't be afraid of the C-type repper or faction gyrostabilizers; both are pretty cheap now, and if you can afford the hull you can afford a few mods to maximize your performance.

The skills for this mission boat transfer beautifully to the Vargur once you have Minmatar Battleship 5, and the Vargur is simply easy-mode hisec missioning. Income is very comparable to the Machariel if you loot the field... but it's a different experience. I recommend having one of each in the hangar because the variety is fun :-)

(Note: the anti-em rigt is because I tend to mission in Amarr space. I like not having to refit for specific missions, and the tank/gank is more than about anything can throw at me in hisec. Replace it with a warp speed rig if you're blitzing outside Sansha/Blood Raider space.)

I prefer mine with a 100mn AB. You can make it stable easily enough so you can perma run the AB. I sue shield so not sure on an armor fit, but a mach is more about piloting than tank. If you fly it right you don't need to use your drones. I fit an xl SB and NO cap booster.. you don't need it.. My fit has cap rigs, 4 t2 gyros, 3 x TE, x-large SB, 100mn AB, 2x invuln, 1 x EM.. i am bad I omnitank.. and 800ac's and TB in the high. Just pulse the SB as needed..

... What next ??

So are 1400s out of vogue for the Mach? I've been polishing off Large Projectile for this hull, and I figured I was going to go for Artillery. I remember that being "the thing" for the Machariel but all the newer fits seem to favor autocannons, why is that?

I think they have pretty much always (always being for at least a few years) been out of vogue, at least for mission running.

That's about how long it's been since I thought about projectiles. :)

I've actually looked at my standings, and the Minmatar really, really don't like me. Would training to T2 ACs even be worth it if I'm more likely to fly in Amarr or Caldari space?

I suppose that depends a bit on what else you have trained and how much isk you feel is worthwhile to spend on mission boats.

personally I just love the mach as it goes 1.5km/s with a MWD, has good agility, and warps fast. the good damage and reasonable damage type selection are just nice bonuses. I think it complements the paladin rather nicely. I use both ships heavily. Mach is perfect for hit and run missions. where with any other ship you would spend more time traveling than in the mission.
