ECM Burst question

Given the unstable nature of the bursts and the amount of internal shielding needed to ensure they do not affect their own point of origin, only battleship-class vessels can use this module to its fullest extent.

What does this mean exactly? It sounds like battleships will be able to keep their own lock but smaller ships will not.

It is a hint.. pointing you towards the Scorpion, the only ship that has a bonus to ECM Burst.

is that not for a target spectrum breaker? Last I knew ECM bursts worked the same on everything?

Nothing more than misinformation/flavour text, perhaps based around an initial desire to limit these to battleships. Special ship role scorpions aside, battleships are no more effective or proficient with a burst than a frigate is. The capacitor usage will affect the frigate more, but nothing to do with sensor strength, internal shielding, etc, actually plays any part.

I'd also wager a guess that the Ghost ECM burst is one of the most useless meta 6 modules. All stats except cpu usage are equivalent to the meta 0 version. The meta 1 and 3 versions are superior to the Ghost in ALL aspects: Range, fitting cost, price, jam strength.

I thought that at some point in the past they were limited to battleships only and, true to form, when they lifted that restriction they didn't bother change the text. I could be mistaken here, but there is some precedent for this happening. This is why Roden T2 ship descriptions still favor missiles over drones (they don't, they favor rails) and why the Moros still claims in its description to have a protean array of point defenses (it hasn't since dreads lost their drones).

Also, the Ghost ECM Burst does have one very valuable use: it's great scam bait....

I have to say that ECM don't work no matter how hard you try they never stop anyone locking you and you wonder why your ship pays the price...

ECM is only good when on a bonused ship (blackbird, falcon, rook, scorpion, widow, those 2 sh*tty frigates), or a drone.
