Ship Upgrade - Null Anoms

Hey everyone,

I'm currently knocking out Anoms in a basic fit raven and finding the kill times slow for my liking.

Just wondering what'd be an appropriate upgrade/side grade based on either no or little skill training.

Raven Fit:

Meta 4 Cruise Launchers x6
Spare high slot

Mids:
MJD, Lrg Sheild Boost, Kinetic and Thermal Active resists, Sensor booster (targeting range)

Lows:
3 Bcus and a Dcu

Rigs:
Unsure maybe a cap an 2 missile ones

Edit - should have read the bit about not wanting to skill up ... some of my advice is still relevant

Getting Tech 2 Launchers would be a good start, and getting your missile support skills maxed out.

You could consider blinging (faction) your BCU's.

You could fit a target painter to maximise your applied dps.

A Raven is a good ship, and I would always advocate maximising relevant skills ahead of upgrading to a more expensive ship... but Raven Navy Issue and Scorpion Navy Issue are both good upgrades, as is a rattlesnake (if you have decent drone skills).

If you are looking at non-battleships then an Ishtar or Gila might be worth considering, but again, you will need decent drone skills.

Get a Gila,

you can already fly one. It should be doing good DPS already, topping out somewhere near 650-700 dps i guess, applied pretty well on anything.

From there on, you can put Skilltime in it and go for the beast it can be, or you don't and still have a good ratting ship.

There's Setups that can easily afk-tank Guristas Forlorn Hubs with full Trigger Spawn, so yeah, Gila is one of the PvE Boats right now.

Thanks for the replies. Definitely not against skipping up, was just seeking suggestions that I could fit around my current plan.

I'll give the gila a look.
Are sentries required whilst using a gila?

No. The Gila is bonused for a pair of Medium drones (ignore older info on the web that talks about sentries for the Gila; the Gila uses a pair of heavily-bonused Medium drones now) that basically act like 10 heavies between the two of them. It's pretty hot for pilots at lower skill levels; every Drone skill that affects Medium drones results in an immediate benefit.

The only real downside to maxing out a Gila in my opinion is that the combination of drones as primary DPS and shield for tank is not really heavily-used outside of the Guristas line of ships. Everybody ends up cross-training to some extent, really, but the missile/drone/shield thing is pretty Guristas-specific. Only reason I have decent skills for it is that I had heavy armor/drone/laser skills with my Amarr background and then trained into shields for the Nightmare I fly in Incursions from time to time.

I'm pretty focused in sheild tanking and missiles thanks to my caldari roots.

I've also seen good reports(May be old info) about the VNI. Anyone got thoughts on them for ratting?

All the Anoms the VNI can do, the Gila can do, too. And some Anoms the Gila can do are just too heavy for a VNI.

I'd recommend the Gila over the VNI, as it will be able to ravage any tacklers that might want to try forcing you into PvP.
WIth bad skills a Gila is dangerous, with good skills a Gila is monstrous.

Based on what i've posted about via eveboard do i sit somewhere in the middle of the Dangerous - Monsterous slider with my current skillage?
