We all had our childhood games.

I did play ocerina of time, but I have to say one of my favorites was a game called Jet Force Gemini by rareware games. ya know the guys who made goldeneye and banjo kazooie before microsoft bought them out and made them do kinect sports games.

It was pretty good for the N64, creative enough. 3D was new back then and this game had character reflections in the water :P

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDIhFvTal98 What other game has a boss fight of you playing a dog with tons of guns vs robotic praying mantis's. You just don't see stuff like that anymore do you?

Also mentioning the game wasn't side strafe, only the boss fights.

Some regular gameplay footage

Was quite a fun game for when I was a kid. Only problem is pulling off 100%. It was one of those scour the game to fight the final stage styles. Also rated T for teen. I would imagine it was all the blood splattering and guns, and the fact some enemies wouldn't just die, they would twitch on the ground for a while lol.

Another thing from playing this game is suddenly in movies and on TV I hear the same audio files over and over. The screeches and squeals the enemies make are apparently used quite often on TV. The pause menu sounds I have also heard on TV and in movies. Just shows how old the sound caches are that still get used.

Oh, I perfectly understand, Hal Morsh — a mission like this requires courage, skill, and heroism… qualities you are clearly lacking. Have you forgotten you're one of the bloody immortals!?

silly youngster....

I used to play river run for the Atari 2600 for hours, and and joust were fun. Then I was addicted to the first Zelda, mike Tysons punch out and manic mansion were my favs for a while. On SNES a link to the past rules all. Sega I played sonic a lot, star control was fun and star flight was a blast. Sega CD I played double switch and ground zero texas, as well as the third world war (reminds me I need to fix my sega cd... hmm) ps1 was ofc FF7 past that I was a late teen so no longer a kid. of and tack on doom, wolfenstine, sim city, and duke nukem for the pc.

OMG Comet Mining idea!!! Comet Mining!

My friend had duke nukem. Funny thing is he always wanted to borrow this game from me.

Sim city on the old nintendo was only at a friend of my moms house.

As for the zelda games you speak of? Those were my dads games before I was born, he has a thing for pacman and atari as well.

I swear, A Link to the Past... you can beat it using the force. just start playing, and the next move comes to you after all those years. I had it on EMU in Iraq, it was all the entertainment I needed before bed.

I saw the subject and was going to say 'tag' or 'hide and go seek.' Wrong type of childhood game, apparently...

Lets see here... Way too many to list, like seriously.

Frontier: Elite II (yes my love of space games started at an early age, I'm too young for the first Elite though)
Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe
Su-27 Flanker
Microsoft Flight Sim
SimCity and other various sim games
Command and Conquer
Warcraft
Doom
Half Life
Diablo
The Elder Scrolls II

Countless other flight sims and some other games I'm sure that I have forgotten about.

I had a Nintendo but hardly ever played it. Guess I was just born to play stuff on the PC.

Space crusade that game could really troll you on occasion -> step out all in same group -> computer draws a mine -> roll 3 & 3 -> every single soldier along with the commander dies on the first round without ever seeing an enemy. Lol

Or your commander dies on some lucky orc that rolls 2 & 2 and you roll 0 0 0 0 0 Roll

It was a time of great innovation, I sometimes miss the feeling of seeing something new and shiny that wasn't there before.

Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

When I was a kid, games weren't a thing you did on a computer. Computers were a really new thing. I remember crashing my dad's spaceships on the original Elite, but in my day, games consisted of pretending to be superman by tying a bedsheet to your neck like a cape, and then standing on the sill of your bedroom's second-story window where you could not only catch the best breeze, important if you want the 'cape' to fly out a bit, but also be found by your panicking mother thinking you are actually going to try to do something superman-ish.

My dad bought a 4-way Pong coffee table.

Between that and my Intellivision console I was a pretty big deal in 4th grade.

I liked the title theme to this game a LOT back then. I remember how if you landed in water you would slowly drown, and even with cheats to refill your health there was nothing you could do about it.

Wait... Ubisoft was around back then??

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7ok5AV7ZrM

such a silly theme, but the bottom left corner. Ubisoft.

Also forgot to mention I first placed EVERY SINGLE RACE on episode 1 racer. Pod racing is awesome.

Me versus my dog in the backyard. Or me playing with a stick while he napped in the sun.

I did play a lot of Pharaoh and Age of Mythology when my folks weren't hogging the computer though.

Grrr.
