Client lagging out and crashing.

Ever since the 13th, I've been having issues with my client lagging out and crashing. I do a lot of stacking/unstacking locking/unlocking, and that seems to exacerbate it. When running multiple clients, it's only the client that I'm trying to do something on, the idle client never DC's. I had hopped that the patch today fixed it, but I was greeted with crashing nearly as soon as I logged on.

It always starts out the same, the context menus take longer to appear after right clicking, then they stop appearing all together, and like clockwork, 5 seconds later, my client is restarting automatically.

Any ideas?

This has been happening to me too, and it also seemed to start on the 13th. Seems to happen at random times, I'm not sure if opening a window does it or not, I have had it happen when I was trying to jump between systems, but when I logged back in I was about 1-3 aus from the gate, so it may have just looked that way. Basically everything stops responding then the client restarts and I have to log in again.

Kobea, do you play with sound enabled? I was advised to turn it off by a friend to see if it helps.

Well, disabling audio didn't change anything, DC'd twice within 3 mins while trying to do my daily PI

Same, this is getting ridiculous. Got podded cause of it. Seems like I timeout and crash every 5-10min.

Ok - this is interesting - specially the last trace.

It shows a path via Telia Sonera.

I would like to see more traces either with pingplotter our just "traceroute 87.237.38.200" from cmd is fine.

We have seen Telia picking up routes specially in Asia and bringing the traffic a longer path over US back to us - we can sometimes fix that.

This could also be a general issue with Telia - so please give me more info so I can act on it.

I also had been messing with my nvidia settings for eve right after crucible launched, I hadn't noticed any problems before then, but i set them back to default. It seemed better, but I did have the same issue after as well, just less frequent.

ok - I will look at this now

there is nothing wrong with the path -- then uses Telia to get from US to UK and then to us.

I got now two traces involving Telia - I will raise a ticket with them and see if there is something going on.

Yes please do so. I have been having the exact same problems since the 13th. I live in the west coast of US and my clients have been lagging and crash for no apparent reason.

Hop 16 - eveonline-ic-138015-ldn-b3.c.telia.net [213.248.83.198] had a serious problem yesterday (14 Dec) just before you took TQ down for the extended DT. I think it started about 1030GMT and ended about 1215GMT

There was about 60% packet loss and latency was sky-high - you could see it from both the Telia and Level3 looking glasses so the issue wasn't anything local to me other than that's the route I use.

The eve-o website wouldn't load at all, nor the API.

I used a 3G connection to come in via a different route and that was fine.

Oh and when eveonline-ic-138015-ldn-b3.c.telia.net [213.248.83.198] does have problems then the packets which are actually returned have a pretty low TTL (114 rather than 247 which is normal for me).

Were I to hazard a guess I would suggest Telia/you (I assume CCP manage the box) have a routing loop issue on that box as everything up to it looks reasonable.

I also have been having the same problem for the last couple of days, it seems to be getting worse. I've had about a half dozen drops in the last hour.

Got visual route running, will try and catch something next time I get dropped and post a snapshot.

Edit: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/838/snappedjpega.jpg/

As you can see, its the Telia node @ 213.248.83.198 that keeps spiking.

Just wanted to link to this other thread started a few days ago with people having the same problem. One person included a tracert that lists Telia, if that is the problem. Next time I play I'll add a tracert if I continue to have the problem (started on the 13th).

I have had the same issues. for a cpl of days now. I got fed up and did a full re-install. After set ups (ovrview, etc.), ran / salvaged a cpl of lvl 3's, did bunch of travel, etc. , overerall was on for about 4-5 hours with no issues (knocks on wood). This was at 11p - 4a Eastern time (US)-- 12 hours ago.

I"m in U.S. (East TN)

(Thanks Konferge for your help. I found I can post here using in-game brouser only)

u wanna use pingplotter (or similar) to keep track on all the hops and there route changes.
It will give u a nice graph to. Big smile Keep it running next to eve, and see whats happening when u have a DC

I'm having the same issue, as of tuesday (before the patch). My client constantly crashes and restarts, right before the crash I do see lots of laggy behavior.

Do you happen to have an ati video card.? I too had this problem starting on the 13th. upgrading my driver (radeon 5700) to the most recent version released on the 13th seems to have resolved it.

I run an nVidia card. But since not all clients crash, it's very unlikely to be graphics related.

Also on NVidia, no errors to report on that front.

The fact that I get dropped from TQ at exactly the same time visualroute reports spikes and packet losses on the Telia node I mentioned above, frankly, is too much coincidence to ignore.
