Hi All,

Something weird happened last night ... I was flying about in my Helios in Nullsec looking for exploration site and midway through my warp I get pulled out by a Pirate Stargate surrounded by space rocks, there were 7 or 8 NPC ships there most of them battleships who began yellow boxing me, being in a cloaky frig I didn't fancy my chances to bookmarked the place and had it away a bit lively!!.

I was curious because I'd never ran into anything like this before so came back in my Ishtar and blew up the ships to find more came along and in greater number ... about 4 or 5 waves came in total. Through bounties and loot/salvage I made about 75m Isk ... I'm definately not complaining but I wonder if somebody could explain to me what that was all about in the first place? ... Does this happen often?

Thanks,
Ryac.

Shocked

So let me get this straight ....... you were warping through a system and a PVE site caused your ship to drop out of warp?

Sounds like it could have been a Cosmos site, all except for the part about it causing your ship to drop out of warp. Maybe that was due to somebody placing a warp bubble in the area.

Now about the site itself, what type of NPC's did you encounter and more importantly, did you check the loot in all wrecks? Also did you try to access the Acceleration Gate after destroying the NPC's ?

Correct, I was warping between 2 Stargates and I got one of those popups much like you often get when going to a Relic or Data site but it came from "Ship Computer" I can't remember precisely what it said but it mentioned something about Pirates ... It was a Pirate Stargate surrounded by rocks with 7 or 8 Sansha ships. All Cruisers and Battleships. As I blew them up they spawned in larger waves with the last about 8 Battleships and 11 or so Cruisers ... I brought an MTU with me and salvaged the wrecks too but got nothing shiny from either ... There was also no acceleration gate and I couldn't activate or destroy the Pirate Stargate.

This interested me, so I took a look on the Evelopedia.

There was too many entries to go through but the foremost entries mentioned Incursions.

Were you flying through an system where there was an Incursion?

If your flying through a Sansha region I would suggest that it was pure luck to happen across the site, on the other hand you might have stumbled across an Incursion site and you were lucky to survive as Systems with Incursions have system wide penalties to your ship.

Keep an eye out and if you can post it, to the Evelopedia or the forums.

You most likely misclicked and warped to a static beacon instead of a gate (or you encountered the bug where you click on one thing and warp to another). If you can see the beacon on overview, that's most likely the case.

A few years ago, CCP put a bunch of beacons all around various parts of space with names like "Serpentis Distribution Outpost". They are basically scenery with npcs in them, they do nothing but sit there and give no loot beyond regular stuff you loot from the npcs.

If you feel like telling us the system name I can tell you whether or not this is what happened.

The beacons Jenn aSide mentioned are called 'Landmark Beacons' which are basically a mini version of Cosmic Anomaly Combat Sites.

From my experience and understanding, 'Landmark Beacons' are static sites that don't spawn reinforcement waves. The initial group of defending NPC's at those sites will respawn within 15 minutes or longer. The site itself won't escalate but there is a small percentage chance of having an NPC Commander spawn with the initial group.

I'm thinking due to the amount of reinforcement waves, it was actually a Cosmic Anomaly.

You miss-clicked and warped into a Guristas Haven.

The description of the site, stargate, rocks, the fact the stargate was not destroyable, number of waves and reported NPC forces are identical to one of the variants of the cosmic anomaly "Guristas Haven".

You even get a popup from your ships computer when warping to it.
