There will be lots of avatar based gameplay.

Example for more exploration content, things like ancient 'alien' devices on planets that can be explored and activated to generate system wide effects.

More sim based content. People will spend weeks designing habitats on moons, alien worlds etc., even laying out settlements based around industry or tourism.

Monetisation will be more prevalent, eg. Implant insurance contracts so they are replaced on pod death, possible even to Plex for permanent implants.

plex for permanent implants

i can now plug a HG snake set :D

I suspect this would be more than one plex!

I don't care, I buy them from eveonline.com Lol

I have some crazy ideas about things that I think would fit into the game, but they only go out so far. Judging by the pace of things right now, 10 years is wayyy past anything I could dream up. There may be things that cause me to shrink and expand between now and then, and I am hopeful and anxious.

EVE has done a lot in my personal life to fill in the gaps, and scale to absorb all of my time if I choose. I don't really think of it in terms of where EVE will be in 10 years. When I look that far in the future for EVE I'm just glad it will be there through my thirties.

It almost sounds pathetic and if it is, I don't care. It could be worse. The thing that kept me company through my twenties was alcohol and self-loathing.

I'm starting on a completely new path of art, 3D modelling and animation, so it looks like EVE will be even more dear to me than a pastime, which it has been. lol. More like a case study in gaming, and the best game for it, I think.

In practical terms, the craziest, furthest thing I could wish for in EVE is dismounted exploration. Where you dock with an abandoned structure and rummage through it FPS style.

I'm sure EVE will be several things in ten years. VR. On consoles. Integrated with console spinoffs. On mobile. By virtue of pure computing power and a straight install onto a mobile device, it has to be, and then be streamlined. Surface Pros are already running EVE. Anyway.

I didn't catch EVE from the beginning. It blows my mind to think about where I was in 2003 and "what if" I had the right friends who got me into it. I was immersed in the military and lost in young adulthood (21, stationed in Vegas of all places), so there's no chance. I don't dwell on it. From what I hear and see of EVE back then, I don't regret it either (thanks for keeping it running though).

But. I do feel like I've picked the right game.

There are other things I'd like but I won't say them. It would only make it harder on CCP, even if just one person reads this post.

I foresee all 3 games, EVE, valk and Legion all in one game that can be launched into at any time with one character and they all include their own version of walking in stations and planets.

I also want to see the booster system become more diverse. I want synth boosters to become more mainstream and for there to be many more kinds of booster. And then all of these boosters have an underground market of trade where they can only be acquired by face to face meetings, off the record at someone's starbase, which also has a Walking in Stations element.

I love the idea of setting up a manufacture POS at a moon in a highsec system, let's say Ashab, where people can show up and hang out. But I want something there to be worth showing up for besides just the socializing. Maybe we get an in-game version of EoH or Mind Clash becomes a thing and it becomes a mini-Jita for drug trades and stuff.

The immersion will be through the roof and I already love what they have planned for asteroid belts in Rhea :D

It will be the exact same game, as it was ten years ago.

It's a social game for lonely people who like to act out bad behavior as a group and has very little to do with a realistic economy or space simulation.

It matters not what mechanics it has or things to do in game.

No innovation can change what EVE is, as it is working exactly as the spirit of the designer intended.

the only real change will be that it's on
the PLAYSTATION and not the PC.

I think it more likely to go to tablet then PS. Because I think CCP working with Sony on dust may have given them a bad taste, which is why legion is geared for pc.

OMG Comet Mining idea!!! Comet Mining!

I don't see Eve going on consoles ever and a very low chance of Eve on tablets. And if it goes onto tablets it will not be what we have right now. They would probably make it into some minigame.

In all likelihood it will be confined to the annals of MMO history.

And no, they won't have reworked POSes, they might have taken a shot at sovereignty and I guarantee highsec will be 100% safe.

Looking back at the last ten years and using that as a template, EVE will look pretty much like it does today. At the core it will still be a bunch of people logging in to a simulation that has us tea bagging one another at every turn, where ever possible.

I can see this.

Thanks, I appreciate the vote of confidence but there's reasons. I have three minutes before class so i'll make it quick

I'd like to keep this a game, rather than risk my livelihood in Iceland with CCP. The problem with art around here is it's not really appreciated, and EVE isn't an art-centric game. not really. i'm sure a lot of work goes into it, but the player base can do without it for the most part.

I'd like to see Incarna rebooted. I wish it happened. so do you still think CCP Rain should happen?

they also force employees to put their characters on ice and then only get 3 accounts? wtf am I supposed to do with 3 accounts. and HELL no i'm not retraining through supports again. I'm already doing it with 3 characters, and I swore I was done with supports a year or two ago.

This is one of those cases where you want to keep something a game, rather than turn it into a career. I'd like to work in the industry, yeah, but not CCP.

where would you go? what kind of networking can you do from there?

Los Angeles is where I'm currently living, it's where I'll attend school, it's where I'll work.

I'd never give this up.

also, don't troll me bro!

In 10 years, EVE will be full VR with...
...fighter content for the 6DoF twitch players, banking and turning in space frig content for the WW2 dogfighting players, "classic" doubleclick-to-fly for cruisers and up...
...full gesture support for FCs to direct battles...
...mobile corp home POSs that can launch anything short of a Super...

...and people still clamoring for the return of the flying potato Domi, because the one released 9 years ago looked "too advanced."
:)

Thus Spake the Frigate Goddess!

Honestly ... prolly dead

it will last a few more years but all the upcoming space sims will prolly reduce EVE to a much smaller memberbase.

I am guessing that eve will become even simpler than it recently did ending up as something like World of Spaceships.

Or it will finally get WiS done. Project Legion will be success and no more sony exclusive rights.

Having played with the Oculus Rift on EvE: Valkyrie at EvE Vegas, I think eventually it will be integrated into many, many games and possibly EvE will be an early one.

So, much of what we do with clicks will be done with a finger. If you are in space, you just hold your hand in front of you and tap on a module to activate it- you'll see some sort of virtual pointer representing the tip of your finger. When you look around you will see a 360 degree version of what we see on our screens now, so you will feel very much "in" the game.

Large fleet battles will, therefore, be mind-blowingly awesome, as DD rays SHOOT RIGHT AT YOU! When you get bubbled, you will REALLY feel bubbled, because everywhere you turn your head will be...a big bubble. You'll be able to reach out and tap a ship to lock target.

You will really start to feel like a capsuleer.

In station, you will probably have a virtual keyboard available to tap on, or even something integrated into the captains quarters, for activities like trading. Fitting will be very immersive and drag-n-drop, probably onto a 3D ship model that appears before you.

None of this, I think, would be especially difficult to achieve, especially in 10 years.

In ten years....

Bitter vets will still be whining about Phoebe.

EvE will still be dying.

Mining will still be boring and almost pointless, yet strangely attractive.

ISBoxers will still be claiming nothing they do is automated aka bots.

The same f***ing cloaky camping s***lords will still be cloaky camping my favorite ratting system.

The same Null NPC dwellers will be claiming l33t pvp status, blopsing fat, lazy bastards that rat in mutli-billion carriers, while continuing to mislead anyone who cares to listen that they have anything going for them other than exceptionally boring one-dimensional gameplay.

2 more layers of lipstick will have been applied to the UI, which will still look like a bunch of spreadsheets spewing forth a crapload of info across my 3 monitors.

Wife agg will have claimed three or more victims.

And I'll still be occasionally trolling the forums while I try to kill time at work.

O yea,,, NC. will still be trying to figure out how to bust up the CFC.
