Rattesnake- Omni or TP?

A drone friend of mine is less than two months from being able to fly a Rattlesnake (including level 5 skills and such to support the ship). I did test runs with a Rattle on SiSi since my skills are nearly identical (slightly less drone) to what she'll have. It could kill fast enough, at over 1150 DPS, but the shields were stressed easily. I am toying with a fit that guts the BCU, keeps the 3 DDAs, and adds another Shield Power Relay for a 50 eh/s gain, and still 1097 paper DPS (my skills). This way, I can keep a TP or omni in the mids, and increase the staying power at the same time.

So the question is, which would help a Rattle more? An Omni for the drones, or a TP for drones and missile accuracy? My gut says TP, but that's likely because I've been primarily a missile pilot since day 1, and just this year got into drone boating.

Using an active tank instead of passive will help a lot. Then you can have both TPs AND Omnis.

Cap is crap on it. Equip a Pith A Large to remedy this? It does bring the eh/s into agreeable terms with a SBA equipped, and with the right rigs, 7-8 minutes of cap for her, 14 for me.

Dead rats don't shoot back. If you really want more tank I'd fit a large or xl booster and a cap injector.

You don't need a cap stable tank. 7-8 minutes is already more than enough. You shouldn't be running the shield booster constantly.

Alright. So tank can be improved is what I see. I'll give it a go on SiSi sometime and compare. I am still curious on the argument of TP or Omni, however.

True, I used a "pulse when needed" CNR and Geddon (armor reps on geddon) for awhile. Hell, I did L4s in a Prophecy and Navy Vexor for a bit using full Bandwidth with a Gecko or two and whatever else drones to fill. Earlier attempts to make an active fit Rattlesnake net crap results, but after tinkering with it again, it's pretty much on par with the passive in regards to tank.

Warden II x2
Garde II x2

---

Hobgoblin for Frigs, Garde II for anything between 10-50km, Warden for sniping at upto 84km and the Berserkers for the Angel battleships, if they get within under 10km to you.
I've no troubles killing frigs and cruisers wihtout a TP at ranges over 15km using the Garde II.

You can switch the T2-Cruise launchers and DDAs for faction-modules to get even more DPS, but it's not worth the money imho, as you allready look at 1k DPS dealt with thermal or kinetic missiles and the Garde II.

The tank is cap-stable and absorbs 1k DPS against all but the Amarr-factions.

The four-slot tank costs some 1.2 bil ISK and the Rattle some 400 mil. Still cheaper than a Golem or Machariel and the drones keep firing even when you're jammed or damped.
