Just a shout-out to Hydrostatic Podcast, who mentioned this idea in their newest podcast, 'I'm Gonna Start My Own Thing'

I'm very glad to see so much interest in this Smile

Thanks everyone!

This track still fits the Jovians as well as ever- Play it while you read the documents!

I would love to see this happen

EvE is terribly lacking in PvE content, and making storylines like this would go a long way to fix that.

+1 to this in hopes it gets done, and that such PvE content might be added more or less regularly - every 2nd or 3rd expansion.

Still like this concept so have a 1+

Though I do say, let the staff at CCP get creative with it and use this as a springboard to come up with new and more engaging ideas. Perhaps PvE that is fulfilling for longer than the current flavours.

The OP needs a summery of what you are talking about, or if you like, a TLDR at the start.

I'm amazed that so many people have drilled down to find out what this is about. Are all these positive comments from people that you have explained the concept to in a chat room or something and encouraged to post here? Cause I can't see how so many have taken the time to understand what is a really vague wall of text OP.

No, it looks like the people here all took the time to read it P

I would add a TL;DR for each section, but the thing is, I see a lot of examples of people only going off of the first thing they see. There's a lot more to this than a simple version of it could say- it's no small plan!

(and I kind of take some pride in the documents- they were a lot of fun to make and it's seemed like a lot of people liked how they presented it)

I'd be damned if your character is not to be included in the lore involving the Jove.

If that ended up happening, I'd probably die of happiness P I'd be more than happy to see this implemented in some way, whether I'm officially included in it or not.

But to say something else- I'm starting to write a background for myself- it isn't anything lore=breaking or ridiculous, but it certainly won't be boring Smile

(Also, to add: Hilen Tukoss has reappeared- and he's asking for Misu Baniya's biomass. This is becoming very interesting very quickly- the body parts haven't been used in 11 years, and now they're suddenly important again....)

And once again, thank you for the support, everyone!

I really like this, If CCP want to use this, It would be a really nice base for a good epic arc,
a couple of points, It may be a good idea, not to make it a level 5 (solo) It is exciting and interesting enough, that Just like the sisters of eve arc is accessible to new players who have progressed to L2 mission standard, make this so that Players who have Just reached L4 standard are able to achieve it. With effort.

Elite play whilst good, is not encompassing, give this as a goal, for people to reach, and even if stages are failed, It can be restarted until eventually completed.

Overall beautifully done, congratulations, I hope your work and effort is used in some way.

This is good stuff. And for those who want to argue it to death, think on this...doesn't this count somewhat as emergent player content?

PvE needs a shakeup just as badly as nullsec operations. This would do it, and without damaging existing lore.

First of all, thanks! I'm glad you like it Smile

And just to explain- having the arc as a more accessible L4 would be interesting- I was considering it at first. But the way I ended up looking at it was for it and the rewards to be a special thing, accessible by the people who truly crave them and will work hard for them. The idea is that the Directorate takes interest in and trusts you, as a capsuleer, to undertake the arc.

The Galileo Implant would be something that isn't too common, and it would end up mostly being used by those loyal to the directorate. As a L5 arc, which would require a lot of effort to gain the necessary standings for (as there would not be any accessible 'Jovian Directorate' agents), it would be an option for the players who are heavily interested in the Jovians to become more involved with them.

But as for the last thing- it is definitely supposed to be able to be completed no matter what, once you start. No expirations on missions and a very small (if not nonexistent) number of item objectives will help to guarantee that those who start it will always be able to finish it, and other actions could be taken to further ensure that it can be completed.

Again, thanks for the feedback! I hope it is used in some way as well Big smile

I am reading through this wonderfully crafted proposal now. I will respond with more relevant comments in the future.

In the meantime, I am surprised that EVE has such a rich backstory with a mysterious technologically advanced and dying race, and just about completely ignores this aspect in the day-to-day game.

It is a forgotten and unused resource. I think it behooves CCP to tap into it and provide us ways to immerse ourselves in this dark history.

Not only do I remember the game box stating that the Jove were coming soon(tm) but also CCP Kieron's 2005 forum statement that they were slated to be playable as a "post-Kali" expansion.

CCP make this happen, the time is now!

*) a detailed PVE arc with missions to engage the player. Finding the agents and participating in the arc is an easter egg in and of itself

*) Some inconsequential, by which I mean balanced, rewards such as a 1 run Jove Frigate BPC

*) The final reward is something that unlocks additional options in Character Creator. This is pure genius.

Yeah, the thing that gets me is that there's been nothing going on with regards to this huge part of the backstory for years now (though the body part collection is starting to seem more and more interesting...). There's so much potential, but none of it has really bee realized- obviously it's completely up to CCP, but I would love, more than anything, for something like this to eventually happen- as long as the 'mystery' of the Jovians remains, there's a lot that could(or should) be done with them.

After all, I only decided to play EVE after immersing myself in the lore and realizing just how amazing it is! Smile
