Re "pilot is a suspect"

Can i get some info on how this works?

I can fire on this pilot in any system.
This pilot can now return fire without concord intervention.

Question is - Can his corp/fleet now also join the engagement without intervention, or is it just him?

I need to know if i decide to attack will i find myself being pounced on my several ships.

No it's just him, though you should be fairly careful shooting suspects, particularly in a mission pocket and at a station.
both of those scenarios are engineered in the suspects favour .

He could receive reps from someone close by. He could also have a pilot near by that will bump you off station.

Yeah unless you laid the bait to make someone go suspect, you are most likely the one being baited and in some cases even if you did lay the bait it may also be a trap. In conclusion its always a trap. Killing these people can be done but you need to be patient and learn how they operate so that a proper counter can be devised. That counter will most likely mean bring more logi than they have as well as a ship that hard counters the bait ship.

If the pilot you're shooting is suspect, only he can return fire. His corp mates, however, can remote repair his ship, leaving you at a disadvantage.

If you shoot a suspect, only the suspect can shoot back.

However, that does not mean that it's only the suspect you're shooting at that you have to contend with. They can have off-grid boosters, logis, bumpers, hell even standby suicide gankers for you to deal with, not to mention the fact that once you shoot them, they are free to dock up and get a different ships whereas you are stuck in space waiting off a weapons timer.

I lost a Talos to pimped-out Navy Geddon in Dodixie. He was suspect, so I locked him up to take a look. His armor and shields were gone and he was at half structure. I fell for the bait and opened fire. My Talos puts out over 1000 DPS and I know how to fly it...yet his structure barely budged before he managed to kill me. And this was, apparently, a fairly common occurrence for the pilot in question.

Engage suspects in heavily populated areas with extreme caution.

Yes, if they want to shoot you then there is nothing stopping them. But if they do, concord will defecate all over them.
