Since it was a mining ship they said they never considered it a 'feature', only a 'bug'. Which makes sense, but some don't want to hear it.

Yes, I'm sure the last thing that goes through a pilot's head after getting hot dropped is "man, I sure wish I had an Orca!"

I don't always post on the forums, but when I do, I post with my main.

  • Orca hi-sec Stealth Nerf #1 = Can't board a ship from Orca's SMA if red boxed
  • Orca hi-sec Stealth Nerf #2 = Can't scoop a ship into Orca's SMA that is targeted by anyone including the Orca Pilot.

By stealth nerf I mean not listed in any patch notes, so enjoy your surprise and confusion after installing patch.

The first nerf was a PITA. The 2nd one is simply we-todd-did in my humble opinion.

As it is now, If I'm mining in high sec, and my Orca pilot jettisons a T3 for me to board, and some we-todd-did NPC / Player / Drone targets the empty T3 before I can board it, there it sits, floating in space un-piloted and vulnerable.

  • The Orca Pilot can't scoop it back into SMA since the T3 is targeted by something.
  • The T3 pilot can't board it because he doesn't own the ship and it is targeted. (Orca pilot launched it so Orca pilot owns it)
  • The Orca pilot could board it if skilled, but then we have an empty Orca floating in space.
  • If the Orca Pilot is not skilled, then the T3 floats in space until a solution is figured out, or down time occurs.

At least now War Targets, Can Flippers, and Care Bears have a new layer of safety from the evil Orca of doom.

Exactly how many ships are in these "blobs" that are countered by an unarmed industrial ship?

Sounds like you shouldn't be swapping ships in front of NPCs and/or hostile players. Warp to a safe spot, kill the NPC, whatever.

Also, providing tears from a member of TEARS is probably a bad idea. It just feeds the carebears who love this patch.

CCP doesn't want you switching ships/fits in combat situations (very reasonably, IMO)

If you want a new ship/fitting, dock up and change it.

CCP wants you to commit to a fight with the ship/fitting you have.

Now you might have to learn how to actually PVP

Nope, no tears here, just calling it like I see it. This latest nerf just slows down the process, we still have our ways. Twisted

I thought the first rule of PvP was to pick your fights. Which is exactly what we do.

If people don't like the way we pick fights, that is simply their problem and not mine.

As long as you have fun fighting PVE fits and needing orca swaps to do it then more power to you I guess.

Yes, exactly, the Carebear wants Salvagers to be forced to warp to a safe spot in order to switch ships.

That gives the PVE target a free opportunity to blow you up AND good 30-40 seconds to align and dock up. FAIL.

Congratulations, you just provided the Carebear with 'risk free PVP' - and very little prospect of salvager success.

Luckily there are workarounds, but those workarounds do not work well when you live (geographically) a long way from the servers. Latency kills you - and the ship is often locked up before it even renders on your client, if the PVE target is the slightest bit clued in. Being required to 'eject' a ship is simply nonsense when its your Orca and the 'Board ship' function exists. At the very least, ships should not change ownership simply by residing in an Orca's cargo bay - preventing the 'empty ship locked, unscoopable, unboardable problem.

Personally, I think there should be no impediment to 'boarding' (and risking) a new combat ship - its the 'hiding" an aggressed ship, midcombat, in an Orca that seemed abusive.

Confirming flagging yourself for pvp in a weak ship is the carebears fault and they should be punished for it.

Suddenly Ninjas is a synonym for someone fighting pve fits

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

I think CCP should bring it back....BUT!...if the pilot that takes a ship from the SMA has aggro, the Orca gets it too for 'helping' someone in a PvP situation, just like neutral RR. Now all you need are probes for a free kill on the Orca. Should be very easy to find an Orca in space that isn't at a belt... Twisted
