Station cam (or just a window)

I'm currently sat in a station that was camped by seven FW enemies when I warped to it and docked. That itself doesn't bother me but while local tells me they are still in the system it doesn't tell me what's outside the station. Fancy doing a bit of PvP that doesn't involved getting insta-gibbed by seven players but no way of knowing what awaits me outside the station.

Presumably stations have windows (Or at least hull cams) so we should be able to find out what's outside the station at the very least.

How about being able to view the station and it's immediate surroundings?

No, you don't need anymore free intel.

Google insta-undock.

If the exterior station view access was limited to standing with station owner, then this could be a way to reduce the requirement for making instas..... again. CCP changed warp options to clear the need for all those warp-to-zero instas. CCP has also seemed to be on a major "make EVE easier" kick lately, so I would not rule this out.

I would suggest that in addition to standings, there would be some kind of station owner-set fee to access exterior live feed.

Want to peek outside? Sure... that will be X isk per 10 seconds.... the meter is running.

Or a combination of the two... Fee is lower for better standings to station owner. Like Customs Office taxes.

It would need to be a small window with a narrow field of focus that must be manually panned and scrolled by player. NO 3rd person exterior god's eye view. Just shows a visual representation, no brackets or IDs. If there are uncloaked ships, they can be seen and that is all the intel one gets.

If the WTs are cloaked, one undocks into a "clear" lane.... and dies.

With proper checks and balances, overall this is something I would think that many players have desired at one time or another.

I agree with the detailed info available from sensors not to mention that stations are supposed to have traffic control so presumably they should know what's outside, I see no reason not to have a window.

a compromise might be access to the station's dscan allowing you to see what the station sees out to 14 au, so not a window as such but almost as good.

A recovering btter vet,  with a fresh toon and a determination to like everything that CCP does to Eve...

Don't take me too seriously though, I like to tease a bit on the forums, but that's only because I love you...

You have 30 seconds to hit ctrl+space and scan around in space while being totally invulnerable.

It's better than any stationcam.

You didn't mention the condition of staying within docking range though granted that allows you to see what's out there before re-docking.

Shut it down CCP!

There are a few stations, as mentioned in the article, that make this problematic. But generally you can stop and have a look around for a few seconds and decide what to do.

Hope it helps.
