Tachyon laser question related to incursions

Yet to try incursions, and i wanted to get a second opinion on the turret choice

i've seen in many incursion sites (VG's come to mind) that there are many frigates that swarm within 20 km's, although i was hoping to use tach's on my Nightmare.

So if i was to use a Nightmare with Tachys, will i be able to track the frigates within 20 km if they are webbed? (my own web with links) or should i use pulses?

(yet to try incursions out on sisi)

No large beamlaser should be able to hit a frigate at 20km without web. But that is what Drones are for

Frigs spawn from up to 80km in vg few that live to get within 20km are subjected to windicator webs and that means if you try to miss them you will probably hit them anyway regardless of gun type used.

so tachs on a nightmare (guessing its important to note due to the tracking speed) will be able to hit frigs within 20km that are webbed so i wont feel quite so useless? cool

yea but you will have little chance of doing so except in NCO if windicator/s are on their game.

I don't know about VG fleets, but in shield HQ fleets, the preference has been for Nightmares to go with tachyons instead of pulses - it's the top sniper platform, so it's probably best to fit it to its strengths.

Combining the NM's tracking bonus with one or more 90% web from Vindicators, it can't hurt to shoot at webbed frigates - unless there are heavier targets still on field that haven't been tagged as do-not-shoot.

Don't worry about feeling useless. A good tachyon Nightmare will earn its keep in an incursion fleet, even if it isn't the best tool against frigates. Incursion fleets have dedicated drone bunnies for a reason, after all.

Until you have an officer fit, and a 7% ROF implant costing another couple billion or are running a perfectly co-ordinated fleet of pulsemares, tachs apply more damage to the appropriate targets for you. Follow the FCs calls and/or tags and all will go well.
