I kinda have to agree

right now it feels like an arcade game or mass produced non sense shooter.

War Thunder . Call of Spaceships w/e. Log In. Quick action. Log off.

I am not into roleplaying tbh but I miss the time were I used to be amazed by the depth of EvE Online and in conclusion its *scientific* articles and chronicles.

This is what bothered me about the new development approach in O7 EVE Show: "less downtime more blowing ships up".

The gameplay and scope is being dumb downed so much by these guys... one of the greatest aspects of this game is the logistics that goes on! It's not about quickly throwing players into the action like this is some sort of arena battle! Carefully managing your resources and fleet movement is supposed to be a massive aspect.

It's like we're switching the game to a mainstream appeal. "Streamlining" content, shallowing the depth so that attention spans aren't compromised...

To be fair, the first titan was named "Steve". EVE player attention spans are not known for their length.

That being said, I completely agree with the OP and such. I was originally a Dust player, and I fell in love with the depth and complexity of the lore, and was elated when I found out this deep first person shooter was connected to an even deeper and more complex game.

I was hooked. After I made some new friends EVE side, I joined the game. I actually got immersed in roleplay rather quickly, and it has been a major aspect of how I play ever since.

But I joined after any of these large events happened. I heard about the Sansha invasions, the way people had to figure out how the wormholes worked. That sounds amazing. But all we get are some provists with bounties on their heads who barely make an impact, and are swallowed up by large alliances.

The events don't really even appeal to me anymore. They are too easily exploited by the big guys, and it's not because I was miffed I couldn't get any plexes.

Both of my attempts to join EVE events and be apart of EVE history have either ended with me dying, or TiDi made my experience not worth the effort.

If CCP could add more actors to actually play roles dealing with roleplay and setting up events, preferably events with many staging areas, with little incentive other than loyalty, I think we could see more events be more immersive.

Yes there are capsuleers who only work for profit, but there are hundreds if not thousands (IC & OOC) that will come to the call of the empires simply because they were called. Look who won this recent donation thing for the T3 Destroyers! PIE did!

There was no profit in that, other than prestige.

We need more live events that give less monetary incentives, more immersive incentives.

The big guys won't come if there's nothing in it for them OOCly.

Which one of us Dusters were you?

And I am more or less feeling the same way. I love the lore of the game, one of the reasons I originally sought out PIE Inc early last year when I started using more and more Amarrian content and was looking for an FW corporation.

Having read into their lore, both player driven, and the events that used to he held.

The whole Anti Pirate Campaigns, Providence, the Imperial Apocalypse, Mamet 500, etc (all of which was initially reported on by the way) I feel like I missed the glory days when I could really get into RP events.

EVE wise "Burn Huola" was the biggest campaign/siege I've been involved in. Surely with 500+ players, Null Sec fleets, etc and becoming the system with Most kills would have been lore/news worthy.

CCP barely acknowledge it much to my dismay.

Not complaining, just interested as to why EVE feels less ....populated. Even as a Duster on our IGS forums the smaller RP community would chat about the New's segments that were released periodically. Less so recently.

It would be nice for the universe to feel more alive. What are the empires doing? What elections are taking place? Is there any interesting diplomacy going on? Even though I haven't found other players to fly with, I would be happy just with logging on and seeing how the world in which I peacefully game has changed.

EVE lets us create our own stories though, which is something other games with generic storylines and don't let you do.

The less CCP develop the lore, the less it will feel like we as capsuleers are 'breaking' the story.

I agree, though, that I like myself a nice chronicle or lore tidbit to read now and then.

Yes, watching sperglords in 0.0 create drama between themselves because they are all 40-something year olds with no lives is SO exciting. Screw "generic" storylines, I want bitter, caustic fights and drama between human players!

OP, lore was always secondary in EVE to gameplay, even since the start. At this point since the majority of the playerbase that gives CCP money is fine with flying around in 1000 man fleets and doing "PVP", all this silly lore stuff is for the "non-hardcore" PVE players. CCP did try at some point, but they clearly gave up a while ago, because they realized no one cares. It's a different culture compared to say, WoW, where Blizzard created one of the most captivating and interesting universes with many complex storylines, because the game is focused around PvE.

That blog is a thousand times more insightful than whatever is the top story on The Mittani, "oh man we killed another freighter" or "this alliance attacked that alliance and now they're all angry at each other".

Not that I don't love lore, but expecting huge armageddonian events to happen every year is unrealistic at both RL and in-game. Also they are developing not one but two games. They'll have to have at the very least some tie-in (Valkyrie comics have already been anounced). Also EVE Source.

But maybe I'm biased becuase I've been out of the game for a year and half.

The Apocrypha event is probably up there on the same level of organisation and effort as Caldari Prime. Definitely a lot involved.

But it's not too much to ask for previous content that was already regular. Fortnightly chronicles, with artwork, regular world news updates (which are written by volunteers or CCP Lore experts). These items are actioned by different teams. And they were still in the works when CCP was developing two games amongst two additional EVE game play prototypes.

Well, seems they're picking up again. Several new ingame news articles, revolving around all the wormhole stuff & sleepers. Also the Sleeper data research race & the return of Hilen Tukoss for live events/happenings.

You can check my newsblog (or eve Ingame news section on the site) for these developments.

Hoping they keep it up. But I already am happy they picked up the ingame news articles again.

I was worried for a long time about lore and immersion- the Jovians in particular- but recent events are getting me extremely excited- between Tukoss's return, collecting Ambassador Baniya's parts and the lore explanation for why the new sleeper sites are being discovered, I'm getting the feeling that we're in for something- something big.
