autopilot optimization: option to classify a system to be the LAST in route

currently when hitting "optimize" in autopilot, the number of jumps is minimized depending the settings you made. but especially for courier runs you might want a specific system to be the last of all jumps in route, this is currently not possible but highly desirable.

"set destination" does not do the job:

usecase:
1. travel to 10 stations A-J, some are pretty far away
2. the final destination, station Z, is very close, say only 1 jump away

=> current AP logic would optimize such that Z is usually one of the first stations you are sent to
=> AP is supposed to optimize such that route leads along all 10 station while ending at Z.

Just today I thought about this exact option. Would be really handy to have that.

This would be a great solution to the lack of sophistication of the waypoint system.

you could probably manipulate the waypoints to pass through your final destination, but you should be allowed to thoroughly define the path you wish to take.

This is definately a better suggestion than the one i proposed of allowing multiple destination sets interchangable. but one thing is for sure, navagating the stars should be more indepth than what is offered.

Supported.

I'd also like to see an option to use an heuristic instead of brute force algorithm, so that you can "optimize" a route with more than 12 waypoints.

Isn't there an option to 'Set Destination' already?

And, to the person above me, I'm not sure you mean by 'heuristic' algorithm, there's no way it could 'learn' what the best route between any given points is, the only reasonable way to search for a route is through a breadth-first search algorithm.

yeah, but the trouble comes in when the algorithm starts deciding to get stupid with the waypoints.

say i have minerals all over the place near jita (stupid me for forgetting to set the range to "system"). There's not really enough stuff in these outlier systems to warrant the freighter, so I'll use an itty 5 and have Jita be the last stop.

OK, looks good, but I see there's a lot of "extra" jumps thrown in there, so I hit "Optimize"

Instead of it doing
System 1
System 2
System 3
System 4
Jita

It will end up doing something more like:

System 1
System 2
Jita
System 3
System 4

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia
