I was just putzing around, and happened to notice a VERY BRIGHT and characteristically Christian star on my way out of a system, so I snapped a quick screenshot.

It was in the next system, as well.

Is this the return of the North Star? ;D

Probably just a random system close by. It should disappear after several jumps as you move away from it.

It might be the EVE gate as ALL stars in the known EVE universe are visible form each other now.

That one looks particularly shiny so i say it's the EVEGate....were you near Genesis? hehe

Also CCP would you mind actually changing the amount light form the sun based on distance? The sun should NOT be as bright as it is at 120 AU out even when in the same system.

"Pluto’s average distance, or semi-major axis, is 39.5 AU."

At that distance the sun is a speck, almost lose-able in the starry backdrop. I'm not so sure all the stars in EVE are big enough to still be blinding at a distance like that let alone 120 AU.

What's next, the three Wise Men? Akita, Tippia, and.... Mittens?

well, to be fair, some of the stars COULD possibly be VERY large, in case you were wondering, most scientists classify Sol as a somewhat small and dim star.

and if i do recall, werent the gates built in system with binary stars? not sure if i remember incorrectly, but if true would be nice to see implemented.

also, another feature they could put in for an aesthetic appeal would be miniature black holes, these have been found alongside large satrs and make a really cool swirly gas thing as they siphon energy from the satr, maybe add lore as these systems have a higher then average wormhole spawn rate due to spatial distrortion.

ok went off on a tangent there, but yeah, seriosuly, artsy fartsy wise, there is soem stuff that COULD be improved in eve, just saying.

You're just a bundle of holiday cheer, aren't you?

To the OP: Probably a nearby star, try doing a region jump. If it doesn't go away, and is obviously the same one as opposed to a different star now nearby, try posting about this in the EVE Fiction sub-forum.

That definately looks like how it was the last time.

When did the 'Star' come around the first time? Was it winter of '07 or '08?

To me it just looks like a nearby star, I've seen several just like that when traveling around since the starscape was updated with Crucible, so all nearby solarsystems are easily visible and their brightness varies based on how close they are and the brightness and color of the star in each of those systems.

That sure looks like a christian star to me, if you look really closely you can see its clutching a bible.

To some, in their eyes that random flower is just a flower,
but to others it's a beautiful, smelling rose.

Now, I can see some logic in that:

Akita brings the gold, Mittens brings curative resin from a thorny bush…

That's not North.

I'm pretty sure you were looking Southeast.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.
