Worst Ship Bonus Thread

I thought it might be nice to compile a list of the worst bonuses for the various ships in EVE.

1) Imicus' 5% drone range bonus per level - bc Targetting range << Drone control range before bonus
2) Exequor/Probes's cargo bonus
3) Scythe's +3.5% bonus to tracking links
4) Any Amarr Laser cap usage bonus when not accompanied by another laser bonus
5) ?

*honorable mention to the missing 4th bonus of Assault Frigates

Any other contenders? any real use for any of the above bonuses/arguments they don't belong on the list?

IMO, the ships would be pretty much just as good/bad if they didn't have the above bonuses at all, the bonus pretty much adds nothing to the ships utility.

Prophecy: lone cap use bonus = autocannons are the better option in every situation. A cap use bonus on its own is not an actual bonus, but filler. A cap use bonus with a damage or RoF bonus is a full bonus.

Hmmmm:
- Tracking link bonuses come pretty strongly to mind.
- Damage bonuses on Covops
- Cap bonuses on EAFs

That's all I got off the top of my head.

shield/rep boost amount on cloaky haulers, because if you are shot at by anything greater than a noob ship it wont help you anyway.

5% bonus to remote sensor dampener effectiveness per level.

MAKE IT 15% AND THEN WE'LL TALK CCP.

I don't personally, but agree that they certainly get used. Plenty of Incursion fleets wanting TL fitted Scimi's for example.

Agree with Liang's other two points though:
- Damage bonuses on Covops
- Cap bonuses on EAFs

And Verity's point:
- Imicus' 5% drone range bonus per level

And the only other one that springs to mind:
- The Brutix's active armour tank bonus

I'm sure there are more.

tracking link bonuses are good, i have 2 on my scimitar giving 2 people in fleet 45% better tracking or optimal. for incursions. havent tried them for pvp.

gotta say hybrid range on rohk+ferox, gall blaster platforms will still do more damage with the guns in 90% of situations. the only time it would be usefull is if those ships were any good at kiting, which they arent.

and with the rokh it makes it harder to use as a sniper because it wont do the same dps at the same optimal as the rest of the turret bs's.

You do realize that lasers get a cap bonus because they do more damage than other turrets, right?

Trackling link bonuses are amazing when you need them, just because your lowsec shenanigans don't find them useful doesn't mean they're bad :P

Also, <3 the battle helios. Lots of fun and highly underrated. I could see why people would hate the damage bonuses though.

Doesn't change the fact that the ships in question are bad and all do subpar damage. A Maller's dps is outdone by some frigates.

The ships are geared more towards tanking? True but they don't need a cap usage bonus for passive brick fits and for active tanking you're better off with capless guns. Besides, even brick fits are better off with frigate-grade weapons that won't get any benefit from the cap usage bonus.


Also for laughs:

Maller with 5x Heavy Pulse II loaded with navy MF, 3x Heatink II and max skills does 344 dps. Not THAT bad you say? That setup already takes up 1042.5 of 1125 powergrid. Downgrading to 5x FMPs and it doesn't even break 300 dps barrier. Just sad.

ummmm blasters exist...
projectile turrets have better damage selection that can more than make up for this.

The thing lasers have is better optimal range.

Lasers also have the highest fitting requirements... so swapping to ac's gives you more space for other mods, more cap, and better damage selection.

1) Capacitor use bonus for energy turrets. Even with other bonuses, it's still useless. Please delete this bonus from the game and give all those amarr ships a real bonus. I suggest optimal range or armor resistance since those are their thing.

2) Ships with split weapons having the exact same bonus applied to both weapon types and that being counted as two independent ship bonuses. Notable example being the typhoon having a RoF bonus to launchers and projectiles. Please give the ship a real second bonus.Roll

3) Capacitor recharge on the sac. Seriously, who came up with that idea?Lol

4) Tracking bonus on redeemer and sansha ships. Not necessarily a bad bonus in of itself, just not race or weapon system appropriate.

5) Agility bonus on the sin.

6) Cloaked velocity bonus on all BO's.

Active Tanked bonuses on both the Blockade Runner and Deep Space Transport ships

Tracking link bonuses are ~awesome~, damage bonuses on covops can be entertaining (see any combat covops fitting), and the sensor damp bonuses on Celestis/Maulus can actually be pretty nifty.

But the active tank bonuses on DST's are actually completely, utterly useless.

Gallente Shuttle. Because "looks fruity" is worse than having no bonus.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

It's not a useless bonus per se, 5% is just not to make enough of a difference with PvP setups. In PvE it's good.

This type of bonus should probably be: +5% cap gained from cap boosters, +10% to strength of cap rechargers and relays. Maybe rigs too but less of a bonus. But you get the idea. Or whatever: it just needs to be a bonus that PvP setups will gain a real benefit from and they can certainly use extra cap.

I've always been amused by the damage bonus on the velator (of the 4, that seems the biggest case of "wow that's never going to get used").

Yeah. the Armor rep bonus to the blockade runners and transports is like wha?????? If you're caught you're dead anyhow.

I've pimped it with the Scythe's tracking links! Stayed with the nano fleet and helped out hurricanes not get 'glancing hits'. Then promptly died in a fire. But it was fun and we held the field afterwards!!!
