Ok, I made it past mission #2 tonight with no problems this time but now I have run into a new situation with #4. I received a civilian data analyzer for accepting this mission. I fitted it on my rookie ship but then was destroyed by NPC pirates. I received a new rookie ship but no longer have a civilian data analyzer to complete the mission.

I purchased a regular data analyzer from the market but I can't equip it without training about 30 hours of skills. This leads me to believe that there has to be a way to acquire another civilian model to complete the mission before the bonus time runs out (which it now already has).

Anyone have a solution for this problem?

I'm surprised that it isn't in the market like other civilian modules. I would think if you asked in rookie chat or even local that someone might give/sell you one since they are worthless once you get past the tutorials. Or I suppose you could start another trial account and run the tutorial with that character to get it. Or if really want to get into the spirit of Eve you could go shoot another noob running the tutorial and steal it. Note Concord will kill you and you will have to take another rookie ship to get it from the wreck

The only thing I can think of would be to run the mission arc again with a different agent. There are three systems for each faction that have career agents and you can run them all with each character. It would mean you'd have to do that arc over again but each agent grants you a new civilian module for it.

2 options.

1. Buy one of contracts.

2. Petition yourself stuck and ask for a mission reset. GM's are very happy to reset the mission for you so you can try again. Just keep in mind, this is only the case with tutorial missions in general as CCP doesnt like it when a new player is already stuck on the tutorial. But after thet you are on your own.

Checked contracts just before DT, none seem to be up (anywhere).
I think they're also fine with resetting missions that got broken by DT.

That really depends. If they see a 4 year old open a mission just before DT, I wouldn't be surprised if they just say "Nope, sorry, you know about DT and how it works" (or at least, that should be the case).

That is correct, use agent finder, look for career agent - exploration, at a guess you get given one on the first or second mission. One of the civilian mods that gives you real minerals when you reprocess it, I know because just today I took a wheel barrow full of them to the foundry.
