Looking into moving into WH space

Hi, I'm new to Wormholes and don't know a lot about them as far as ratting goes. I'm currently training for a proteus only 13 days away now and already trained all the sub systems for it to 4. Am I making a mistake? Is the proteus a good ship to fly in wormhole space? Also does anyone have a good proteus fit for ratting in wormhole's. Also if I decide to move into wormhole space before the 13days are done what ship would be of to use for some of the smaller sites?

I have good gun and drone skills and ok missile skills and can fly all T1 hulls and all T2 frigs (with covert ops 5 if that helps). Just don't want to come out into WH space and sit on my butt for 13 days.

Any help would be nice, Thank You.

The proteus is good but I recommend you start out in a c1 or c2 and just use a bc. Cheaper to loose and does the job in regards to pve. Find a good corp and join up with someone more experienced to learn some tips and tricks and get someone to fly with.

A rail brutix will do c2 sites just fine and with the buff to blue loot income c2s are great solo isk. A rail proteus will do c3s just fine so its well worth using the brutix to earn the isk for your shiney t3

Cloaky proteus is also great for ganking other site runners

This tanks fine so long as you got your defensive sub at 5 and kill the battleships first in the last waves of c3 sites

a Proteus is a good ship but usually not the recommended ship for PVE in wormhole space (you'll need the railgun variant).

Battlecruiser is pretty much the default go to for c1 through c3. Most say a drake because its damage projection, cost and tank. But depending on your skills, most Battlecruisers will do.

You can use a myrmidon for practice, or a Ishtar if you so choose.

The brutix listed above is fine. There is really not too much reason to bling it out in a c1 or c2. Fit it as if you will lose it (because you probably will lose it).

I would recommend you have an alt do salvage if possible (saves time).

Also, pro tip, try to fit a micro jump drive on the Brutix. If you get long pointed, it'll be the only way you survive. if you get scrammed.. well enjoy the loss mail :-)

This Myrm worked well for me in C2s on SiSi; the ECM Burst draws aggro off of the drones, but you'll want to make good use of warp-ins on structures due to the lack of a prop mod:

This advice is all solid. I listed the brutix/proteus as they seemed the best fit for what he has trained.
The only other tip i recommend is a mobile depot and full rack of stabs and medium micro jump drove in cargo. Anchor depot at start of site/refit as needed

Just from an advice standpoint.

1.) Always SCOUT the wormhole out first. Find any POSes and Wormholes out ahead of time. If you have an alt that you can use, place one strategically on wormholes so you know if someone comes in.

2.) Plan to train into multiple ships. The Proteus is a great PVP ship but for clearing PvE sites in low-class holes it's significant overkill, there are better ships, and a lot of ISK to put on the line. There are plenty of tech 1 BC's and Cruisers that would cost you 1/3rd the price and be very effective (as others have mentioned). Additionally you are going to want a good scanning ship. T1 scanning ships are fine, or you can look at ships like the Astero or tech 2 Cov Ops.

3.) Don't go alone! Bring friends! Wormhole space is DANGEROUS!

4.) DSCAN! If you see ANY probes, bail. bail. bail!

I totally agree with all of the above, welcome to wormhole space, if you want a ship to run C1 and C2 sites, do the new relic and data sites brought from null, and maybe hunt those who are doing them, the Stratios is absolutely fantastic in sentry form.
If you only have T1 sentries, faction are good, armour fit it to allow space for the relic and data analysers, and if you do not have laser skills highly trained go with energy destabilisers in the highs to mess with anyone who drops on you, they are not called T3 killers for nothing.
A flight of ECM drones in the bay is also wise for those OMG moments and if scrammed an afterburner will be better than a MWD. Better for PVE too as it lets you orbit your sentries faster at range reducing damage.

Fit a point, a scrambler will make all the difference if you get dropped on more for controlling the combat that WILL ensue. Turn off THEIR MWD :)

And as said, never cease dscanning, set up a suitable overview and put it in dscan so you can see any changes rapidly.
Scanning every 5 seconds is NOT too often, you may only see probes for a few seconds if they are good.

Sorry to hijack this thread. (Didn't want to create another and spam the subforum) But i am also looking to move into a wormhole. Preferably in a C2-C3/HS. I have lived in wormhole corps for months but i am looking for advice for finding a wormhole like that, setting up a pos, and other general corp things.

Dive into WHs from k-space and scout their chain a couple of jumps in. If you don't like what you find, jump back out and start afresh. The other option is to find a hole with the static of the class you're looking for and rolling it till you find the right one, but with rolling for c2s it can be a bit of a pita.

Be warned, c2 - c3/HS holes can be pretty popular, especially amoung small farming alt corps/small corps looking to get their first foot into WH space so you may find a great system, but have to fight for control. Do some research, set up bookmarks, get a tower in off their tower's d-scan (where possible), seed scanners and move in an eviction force. Fighting for control of a system is tough, but rewarding content if they fight back.

The in-game channel Join w-Space is a font of knowledge and inconsiderate trolling, yu should join it. When I find an empty sysstem I'll spam that channel for takers; wormholes you want can be hard to find, and since there's so many empty, why pay 500M? Save the 500M for your placeholder POS and a Drake or three.
