A Breacher of course, I thought I had described it well enough already.

A nano vargur. No need to make a new ship class. The marauders already does what a heavy assault battleship would do. People need to rethink marauders and not just hit bastion as soon as the fight starts. And the remaining highslots are great for neuts and smartbombs. Hell. Even a tractor beam may serve you well if you are low on cap boosters and there are wrecks with them nearby.

Trolling is saying something to elicit a response, flaming is a personal attack.
Thread may be troll, idk.

Just dumb then, I guess.

Yes you are.

So are we on the level of children now?

You might be, the rest of us are well rounded adults and in GSFs case very well rounded.

Gentlebeans,

Welcome to the next level. it is where the crazy ideas make sense, and "troll or not troll" is irrelevant.

Well maybe you should read the definition of trolling that ISD posts when threads get locked for it.

Personally I have less issue with people speaking their minds than them feeling the need to say it 100 times.

Mostly because of how taxing it is to have to read the same **** over and over

Not sure I understand what this thread is all about.
That being said, Rain is usually right and anyone who disagrees is wrong and bad at eve.

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

I really have to disagree with assertions that the battlecruiser class in anyway is an offshoot of the battleship. (At least that's what I got from the "troll accusation" post above.)

Destroyers, I've always thought, didn't receive the attention all the other classes have over the years. The addition of the "ganker's special" missile boat options for all races recently MIGHT have been an attempt to rectify this were it not for the fact the dessy is the ganker's favorite ship! Giving them one more, cheap option wasn't the sort of wizardry I like to see coming from the man behind the curtain. But, what can you say?

Jumping directly into a dessy in the early weeks of your game was an interesting wrinkle. However, just about as you do that you're in Sisters of EVE storyline and having to obtain a cruiser (at least) to finish it. (Even with help it's a good idea, and a seemingly natural transition.) This sort of leaves the dessy in a rather narrow niche.

Admittedly they make a decent, early-on salvage vessel (not the intended use.) However, they obviously don't fit in an all-frigate gaming foray. It's even questionable if they're all that superior to well-rigged frigs (with skills) at this point. I'd hate to give mine up, 'cause I do love them so, but aside from disposable ganking platforms, what are they good for?

This being the case, and it certainly is the situation dessies are in, how does one pull them into a more functional role, making them more desirable to own as well? Beefing them up is certainly one choice. How do you do that without a knock-on effect to maintain class balance in the frig - dessy - cruiser progression?

It's easy to understand CCP is almost forced to acknowledge these many classes of "ships" as they are counterpart to existing naval history. However, unfailingly the reason new classes were brought into being was because an existing class failed to meet certain criteria - too slow, too weak, too flimsy. In that sense, the destroyer would actually replace the frigate, no?

Having a role for "killing frigates" exclusively, while so much attention is spent on making cruisers and battlecruisers more effective against frigs? That's sort of pushed the dessy into a corner as well. Drones, turret tracking speed, variable gun ranges, smartbombs, are all designed to counter a frig.

Face it. Presently, the only real attention destroyers are getting is as disposable gank ships used by a thin miniority of imaginationless players. For EVE's real players, the dessy is the "what's this for?" ship.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

damn. that's a really good point.

here's something fun. a T2 neutron blaster harpy worth 350 DPS in k-space... nearly 680 in a C5 magnetar.

I see a lot more players with pirate faction battleships than marauders, I'm not sure what to make of them, the Bhaalgorn looks quite nasty so does the Machareil. Not sure about the rattlesnake and the nightmare but the price usually means they have something that a Megathron might struggle with.

you can fly them without BS V, mostly. bastion mode is hands down better than pirate things.
