Is there an API to find an item's category (as per the Market)?

I want to be able to categorise items that I track - so for example if I pull down an item that I lookup as "Acolyte I" I also want to be able to find out it belongs to the "Drones" category.

As far as I can tell this isn't possible with any of the current APIs (EVE, eve-central, zKillboard).

Does anyone know any different? Question

Actually I might have answered my own question - it looks as if there's a lot of data here which could hold the answers:

Yup Smile

Data that doesn't really change isn't generally in an API. It's in the static data extract

you want data from
invTypes
and invMarketGroups
