Roleplaying might not be real for *you* but it is an integral part of this game for many of us. Just because you don't play a certain way doesn't mean that way is wrong. EVE is a *SANDBOX* and we all build sand castles differently. Big smile

I, for one, agree with the OP. I don't spend hours reading and rereading EVE Chronicles just to have all of this tossed aside just because the Nullbears have Null brains and can't play this game without making it unfun. Roll

I don't think it's too much to ask for those of us that have invested in the backstory of this game (that you all benefit from, whether you realize it or not) to have some explanation for why suddenly our jump drives started making us tired. Ugh

I've found it too painful to even keep trying. The best I recommend is that
* CONCORD did it. They already put limits on various Empire technologies via their uber-magic.
* EVE's Occupational Health and Safety Agency discovered that the previous jump ranges were causing space cancer (or something) in ship crews, and have restricted jump ranges accordingly.
* Pirate Faction research into advanced warp/jump technology has disrupted the fabric of space to the point that jumping now causes dreadful migraines in capsuleers (and their crews.)
* Alternately, the increased number of wormholes is symptomatic of disruptions in the fabric of space and this degradation has reduced jump ranges. We should probably investigate that.
* There was that one episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation where warp travel was breaking down space which lead to a planet becoming effectively off-grid due to a needed warp travel ban to avoid causing local space to explode.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

these are all valid reasonings,

the closest explanation i have to this would be some form of cloning issue with the technology used that has gone wrong & resulted in some form of THE JOVIAN DISEASE aka space-bola that induces cooldown timers of travel sickness.

Space got more dense, just like I did reading this. It made jumping harder. Like swimming through treacle.

I'd blame this god chap the Amarrians keep harping on about, I'm told he works in mysterious yet supposedly glorious ways.

No, it was BOB through his agents in the Kingdom of fire and Ice, taking out his revenge on the unbelievers who were spiteful to his accolytes when the hammer of hyperion landed, and now in his infinite mercy he is blessing his beloved wormholers with new space where they can harry and torment them from blessed Thera.

Those who are enlightened and wish to enter his all encompassing kingdom, may enter this new space soon and worship him close to their shrunken kingdoms of man.

Blessed be BOB

Ps, Thanks fozzie, and thanks to your team, EVE looks like it is really coming back to life in a big way.

Fozzie may have helped you, but he is ruining everything i love in this god given game.

I think we have to prepare ourselves for the very real possibility that the Jovian Plague has "jumped the gap" to capsuleers. That's why the Jove went into hiding, in the hope that they could prevent this eventuality. That's why the sisters are so involved in wormhole space. That's why this mysterious new "fatigue" is associated with increased sleeper activity in kspace.

It all makes sense.

It all makes so much sense.

CCP, in their wisdom, when it finally comes time for Eve to Die, can tell us all we've succumbed to the Plague thanks to too much jumping (either first or second-hand jumping) to give us a lore-friendly way to kill the game.

A news story about how cheeky medical facility technicians galaxy-wide have made every new clone terribly obese, resulting in heavier pods, meaning jump drives are unable to cope with the additional strain.

Maybe someone recalculated the formula for jump drive mechanics, found someone had added 50% by mistake, and it wasn't until the mistake was discovered that "quantum stuff" happened (insert science here) and everything was how it should be.

I mean, the reason doesn't really matter that much, but I can understand why people might want an explanation. The problem is, with the new update schedule things change all the time, and all you'd end up with is a constant stream of poorly written fiction to explain why things happen.

Would you expect this kind of detail from ship/module rebalancing? I doubt it. You're roleplaying, use your imagination, maybe it's all some big conspiracy.

All this long distant jumping is destabilizing sub space and risks destroying the universe in a cataclysmic event called the Spiral Nemesis.
