Bingo.

I think CCP is doing this to get the bittervets back into PVP.

And it's a good idea.

Works for me too, thanks CCP another good decision!

When the going gets tough the Gankers get their CSM rep to change mechanics in their favour.

You just think every good change is a desperate attempt to improve subscriptions.

I didn't said that it was a bad change. It's a good change, actually, and probably will achieve the intended goal.

I never said that you said it was a bad change. I was specifically referring to the motivations you ascribe to CCP.

Indahmawar Fazmarai wrote:
That doesn't changes that CCP is removing a risk without modifying the rewards, though.

They're removing a tax, really. The only risk was against those who were forgetful, which is really not a good game mechanic.

Made up my mind a little bit about this. I don't get it! WHY?

This was a very cool Feature! You forgot to update -> Live with the SP Loss.

Again a bad decision so far. Makes Eve again much more easy. I can't see where this is going a positive way at the moment. :(

I don't think this will get bittervets back into the game. I know one who already will unsubscribe due to this and it's not me!

EVE is a game where you should lose stuff when it gets blown up, not lose skills when you forget to file the correct paperwork. Nobody benefits from the clone grade system.

This is a universally good decision.

SP loss is funny when it happens to something that isn't a rank 1 subsystem skill, but let's be honest.

intentionally costing someone SP takes a bit of planning and it borders on griefing.

find enjoyment in destroying a ship and implants, but that's the boundary. the transaction of subscription time for SP is between the player and CCP, not anyone else. try very hard to understand why it's wrong to think you should be allowed to degrade someone's enjoyment of the game.

in fact, I'd say you're a bad person just for wanting to PVP. people paid either time or money to have their spacethings.

... While EVE is about consequences for your actions

You did not pay enough attention to your pod after losing the ship and then you forgot to take the action to update the clone. You loose skillpoints.

Now you don't have to care about loosing the pod anymore. How can that be a good decision? I don't know ...

I will now even pod myself with implants if I think it's worth the effort to being faster at home / back into the fight, while I did this earlier as well, but sometimes forgot to update the clone and lost skillpoints I had to learn. Now I don't need to care about this. Makes the game again easier, which is not the reason I am playing Eve for nearly 5 years now.

Eve learning curve is getting more flat, which is a bad thing. :(

If they will change the system to something which was proposed earlier in this thread (rental fee / clone / Skillpoints) or something like this I will leave the game as well. Because that would be defenitely just a stupid tax without any reason / consequence.

I fully approve this decision. To show my approval I will resub one of my accounts today after the DT with 1 year subscription.

This is highly relevant for my interests as I just outright love flying dessies, but my main has unfortunately atm 185 million SP, meaning the little golden egg that drops costs me 3x more than the full ship I live to fly (before I put any hardware in it, which I usually do).

For every bittervet that unsubs over this there will be three others that will rejoice, go out die in fire in a small ship, have fun and will be around for much longer as a result of actually doing something fun instead of orbiting the titan.

Depending on the details I might even be able at last to train up the alpha clone cyno's consuming many PLEX in the process. So do not let the door hit you on your way out and may the knowledge that those who are remaining behind will have blast fuel your bitterness as is fitting for bittervet.

LOL

You have a main with 185M Skillpoints in a golden pod (assuming you have some ISK) and afford a 1-Year-subscription (which I think is a lie) just because of this, but you claim to not going out PvPin because your medical clone is to costy? Roll Sounds reasonable ... not, unless you loose your pod every time you loose a destroyer, but even then, no I can't believe it.

Edit: Just looked it up: 46Mio ISK / clone. After your post I thought it is more in range of >100M Roll

However, just wanted to write down my opinion about this Change, what I did.

Have fun, fly safe.

I think it was Fozzie who said industry costs are a huge sink and they might have even to counter it in some way.

Average industry cost is prolly something around 3 - 4.5 % and applies twice to stuff built from components - t2/t3, capitals.

This change is great.

The medical Clone was totally useless. I'm playing Eve since 2009 and never lost a single Skillpoint. Remembering to update the clone was just an annoyance.
And I'm happy that more older players will go out and fight with cheap ships wich was punished before because of the high clone costs.
Removing the medical clones leads to more fights and explosions wich is good.

  • So players won't feel they have to say no to fun roams
  • So players don't get upset after one too many drunken roams where they can't remember to pay for their clones
  • So players can't be tricked into losing their SP
  • So players see less risk in visiting losec or nullsec
  • So players might feel it's worth popping into that wormhole that's just arrived in system
  • So players see less reason to leave wardecced corps
  • Just because it's totally better for the game

irrelevant. All those points.
if you play your game to the end we will be sitting in indestructible ships, because then you have not only less risk. You have no risk. --> This is not My Little Pony farm
Roll

OK. Those Points are relevant as soon as you recognise this game as serious spaceship business or part of RL. I don't do this. ;)

PS: Drunken fleets are always fun. I love them. If People get upset afterwards due to losing skillpoints, it's not the fault of CCP. They should blaim the alcohol maybe or even more themselves ;)

Sadly though a lot of people are risk averse - anything that makes them feel there's less risk in getting out there can only increase player interaction.

I'm sure CCP needs more than CCP Guards looks to keep CCP operational. Big smile
