Harsher punishment for Botting and RMT

I would like to propose a change to the current punishments of botting and RMT.

RMT: If a player is caught buying or selling isk their account will be banned, Credit card, I.P. address, will also go on a black list for the next year. "Year long ban for buyers, permanent for sellers."

RMT is a gateway to other illicit actions.

Botting: Harsher version of three strikes you are out.
1. Character caught using a botting program is frozen for the next year.
2. If another character is used on the account to bot, both characters are instantly sent to the bio.
3. A third time will have the account shut down, their credit card, I.P. address, and further access to EVE-Online banned.

As it stands, I could start botting today, and depending on my means to evade being caught, could do so for months. CCP holds far to little punishment on botting. So what is to stop individuals who see very clearly that they will only get a slap on the wrist from doing so? Also why hasn't CCP utilized bans for individuals credit cards, I.P.'s, or used a system to verify accounts to an individual?

Before someone says "I can reset my I.P. very easily that will never work." Yes you are right for the most part. I have however seen gaming companies go so far as to contact those individuals ISP's. By doing this they can choose to block that users access until they switch providers.

Can CCP stop them from going over to a friends, cyber cafe, using pay pal, plex, or having someone else start an account up for them? No, not entirely. But with these stricter restrictions it will make people more wary about providing such services to a black listed individual.

Also I believe a caught botter should have a flag put on their account. Allowing every one to see that they had been caught. This would discourage corporations from recruiting such individuals. It would also make it easier to track second offenders.

+1 if you agree
-1 if you disagree

Please post your opinions on both subjects. Why perhaps this system will not work as proposed. Or why you think some of these features need looking into sooner. Thank you for reading.

TL;DR: Stricter bans for those caught botting. RMT should be a one way street to never playing EVE again.

As long as CCP's bot detection methods are nearly 100% accurate, I'll give this a +1.

The only reason I can see for the lighter "wrist slap" measures, is just in case a legitimate(albeit obsessed) player is banned using these harsher measures. I'd rather not have my characters biomassed because I randomly decided to pull a 48 hour mining marathon.

Greetings,

We at the New Eden Asteroid Preservation Society (NEAPS) have recently organized in an ongoing effort to prevent the automated mining ("botting") which has become a scourge on the New Eden celestial environment. This wanton raping of our natural resources by robotic mining vessels will strip the galaxy of its natural beauty, leaving barren space for future generations. For the sake of our children and grandchildren, we must take it upon ourselves to protect this vast wilderness that is New Eden.

To this end, we are beginning to patrol Empire space in search of robotic hulks. When they are found, they will be summarily destroyed. CONCORD disapproves of our actions, but our resources are vast and our pilots disposable; we will stop at nothing to curb these threats to the environment.

If you operate one of these "bots" and wish to be ignored by patrolling NEAPS agents, a Mining Licensing Extension (MinLex) is available for just 100,000,000 isk per month. These funds will be used to continue in the enforcement of sustainable environmental policies across New Eden.

Regards,

I have forwarded hundreds of names for botting violations. I know a whole alliance that bots-they have MS, Titans etc. I have a great desire to see all cheaters purged and all the ISK removed.

Did you report your alliance bots or just your enemy's alliance bots?

However, whilst I agree with what you're saying I doubt CCP will ever change the current system. I have reported a Bot last week I believe it was, he's still out mining all damn day! And i'm sure that bots (seeing as there's so many) contribute quite a large portion to the market? (I assume).

And of course they generate income for CCP, so getting rid of Bots would impact them financially to some degree. People who mine properly will always compete with the bots, and CCP will always act slowly when it comes to getting rid of accounts.

I imagine a place where people do what's right because they want to.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for corporal punishment, Dictatorship, Marshal law and Extremism.

If we cull all the bad people, there would only be good people right?

I'm afraid this could be a downward spiral.

You may one day make a mistake, perhaps writing something as simple as, "I could use a bot", for example.
Or perhaps encouraging others to go about New Eden, openly ganking High-Sec miners and auto-pilot industrials watching the football on tele, because they looked like bots.

You have perhaps come to the right place, but I will give you the benefit of doubt, I believe your not using a bunch of alts, trying to light public opinion into re-igniting Hulkageddon and forcing young, naive, passive players out of the game for thrills.

CCP knows exactly what they are doing, and they have the full support of the whole Eve-Online community.

But on a side note, have you got a good Brutix T I fit I could see?

This is also a very good way to sort out Bots, I generally use T1 fitted Bruts and just go and Gank the Hulk(s) in question. In a 0.5 system you can kill a Hulk before Concord arrives, overheat your guns and your golden.

I have ganked the same Bot over and over, hit them in the Wallet which is why they are Boting anyway, plus it feels good Pirate

I totally agree, people who use these programs should face severe consequences when caught, provided that CPP’s identification system is without error. I especially like the gradient scale that you use for repeat offenses.

Who are you?
What possible authority could you have on the subject?
What are you proposals compared to?(ie. what makes you think ccp aren't harsher than your pathetic proposals?)

Why are people taking such a weak thread seriously?

CCP are already engaged in a strict enforcement of botting and have published full ban numbers and are continuing the good work with a vengeance.

This is probably some sad weak propaganda and if i was ccp i'd ban you, just to show you that your not as clever as you think you are either way.
