frigates have them, cruisers have them (in fact, cruisers have two including T3)... are the T3 destroyers technically a replacement for assault destroyers?

I suppose marauders fill that role of assault battleships.

also, I'm predicting a broken combination in blighted guns and T3 destroyers.

speaking of, yeah, can marauders be renamed to heavy assault battleships, with the 'deep inside enemy territory' blurb removed from description?

also do away with the tractor beam bonus, since anyone with a MTU can do it, and the maraud... i mean, heavy assault battleship has enough cargo space to carry one

Never read the description or the mission briefing, just go deep inside enemy territory on a unicycle with a dynamo powered hair dryer engine and some gun powder rockets. They will never be able to lock you because their guidance targeting computer will be too busy trying to stop laughing.

OP is just a troll looking for attention.

Battleship class "heavy assault " would be like the battlecruiser class that mounts large guns(Talos, Naga, Tornado, Oracle), with a bonus to reducing their fitting requirements. AKA XL guns on the Rohk, Hyperion, Maelstrom, and Abbadon...the only BS that doesn't have a T2 counter part and is only reskinned. It wouldn't be over powerd or have high tank, maybe some drones for defense but it fits a couple of XL short range guns only, bonus to tracking as BS speed without an AB would kill their hit probability, and the titan: role bonus that smaller ships take less damage . And would you look at that, you now have a fix for that massive fear of the pilot who only fly sub caps, but whine about getting dropped by a cap fleet....now that cap ships use gates more often....put bigger weapons in the hands of pilots with smaller ships (It would stiffen their spine, given them some comfort that they could hit back at least), nerf their ability to be over abused against smaller targets, and you have a massive gun with a warp engine strapped on you compare to the A-10 Warthog in RL in the world of EVE. It wouldn't replace a dread, whose greatest bonus is in the siege cycle, but it sure as hell would add something to the game to destroy big things. Would also like to see a cruiser or battlecruiser that fits a citadel torpedoes, acts like a bomber without a cloak, but very maneuverable....more destruction, less whining about caps proliferating lowsec and you can't fight back cause all you fly is a rifter or Aluminum Falcon cruiser while being unable to hit that 2 meter rodent sized thermal vent on it Roll

XOXO Kaae.

Aqriue, heavy assault frigates, cruisers and T3s use the gun size appropriate to their ship class. Do you mean tier 3?

"Rename marauders heavy assault battleships" I genuinely can't tell if you're kidding or not. Fortunately, those who work at CCP are enlightened enough to know that their are fundamental differences between PvE focused marauders, and PvP focused assault and heavy assault ships.

Also, there are no heavy assault frigates, just like hams are not heavy assault rockets.

I might not fully understand what the OP thread is about but as far as I can tell you are correct.
Trolling is defined as a personal attack.

pretty sure i'm going to start thinking of marauders as heavy assault battleships. if I can afford it, I'll even use them.

100% bonused guns, more utility highs than you have utility skills to fill with modules, crazy resists, ewar immunity, CPU and grid out the as... for days, for a total package that makes pirate battleships look like one trick ponies.

let's run with the PVE thing, and their intended use. who does CCP have in mind when balancing marauders:

A: impressionable, inexperienced players with low SP
B: full max skilled all the things players with every SP
C: leet yolo solo PVP capable players with every SP

the tractor beam bonus should make the answer obvious.

is there a chance the marauder remains unmolested due to the stigma of > Billion ISK losses, and the resulting disuse?

could it be marauders are a relic of game design based on cost or difficulty, like titans and AOE doomsdays, or the harsh conditions in wormholes (which means no one will live in them)?

if ISK wasn't an object and you wanted to have decadent kill/lossmails, what ship would you choose for roaming?

that tractor beam bonus, and the utility highs. It should be changed to a warfare link ability. no bonuses, just the ability.

...but valid only in bastion.

Is this before or after the Heavy Assault Battleships skill gets split into four different racial skills?

There would be a lot of overlap between a heavy destroyer and the existing assault frigates. AFs already get close to cruisers in some specs, do we really need something between them?

Apparently CCP disagrees, which is why we get tactical destroyers from December on forward. But then again, those new T3-destroyers are supposed to be powerful enough to compete with navy cruisers in some rare instances, so I guess they aren't really inbetween AFs and cruisers anymore. P

I'm sorry but your logic fails me. Out of all the ship classes there are only 2 named "assault" Assault frigates and Heavy assault Cruisers. Hardly a precedent for having them in every ship class.
