Bunnyvirus, do you lot use the foundry suite of things... Nuke, Mari, etc.

I've started an introductory Maya course, among other art courses. This is you know, the best I got right now for space ships, posting for your amusement. I made pew pew noises and imagined it was an updated cormorant.

it's not great, but swords were last week, and primitives was just a couple weeks before that. I have a habit of using Tri's and I'm sure I've missed an Ngon or two.



I`m the only who is using a product from the foundry (modo for modeling) the rest of the 3d artists use maya which i just dont like to work in.

Regarding your spaceship, there were some comments before me regarding adding edge loops etc and thats a good way to start to get a smoove hull

I made my career in development (gaming and VR). I now code enterprise scale compute performance analysis. I am well aware how development works for games and where performance bottlenecks are, as it is now my job to display those bottlenecks to end users.

Awesome.

I was just admiring the Stratios, and the smaller details like the pipes and bulges. The "character."

What's your thought process or inspiration for the general shape (outline or silhouette) for ships, and how do you decide what level of detail is right? (is it just an eye for this, through experience)

I am well aware that they know it too, because they made Probe where they can test those bottlenecks on playerbase machines.

My comment was for your "other products on the market" and about very differentiated market with different games in production. Because 10X graphics complexity is what and where?

Mutant banana? With this kind of imagination you should write a book.

Seriously, I just needed a few more days to fly it and changed my training to Minmatar Cruiser because its just impossible for me to fly such an incredible ugly ship.

I think those are supposed to be weapons pods or navigation aids of some sort - not pontoons

btw DEV is there any chance you guys might get into a closer relationship with NVIDIA - I find games that have direct relationships with them seem to look and perform better ....

Fix current lags before you add more graphics because my GTX 770 is struggling while not having any problems when playing BF4 on ultra...

You could try setting it back to DX9 in the preferences. I had to do that for a while after they introduced DX11 as multiple clients were very slow on my Radeon 5870 (ancient now, I know).

that's not a bad idea. at distant zoom levels (that are better for actual things), it's all the same and runs faster.

but then again I have special needs.

I would like to see the minmatar sub- destroyer class all redesigned
- i absolutely hate the claw series design while i love the thrasher, tornado, talwar, hound ...etc

a little less "bolted on at the last minute"look, would be lovely.... i like the rough look of min craft but not the "hanging from a hanglider" look of the smallest ships
