When it comes to cost VS effectiveness I am very unsure about whether or not to use a Drake Or a Sac for small gang pvp. The sac is faster, can fit a med neut, lower sig radius.. but costs much more than a drake with a bit less dps. Anyone out there fly a Sac and can give me some advice and/or pointers or should I just stick with drakes? Ugh

small gang id go with insurable ship that can kite sac is meant to be in fleet with logi and just sit there and tank dmg drake can be a bit more survivable as you can stay at range and use more kity tactics but at end of day it's a bc and in small gang you could be one that is left behind... small gang i say just stick to t1 cruisers

i fly this when im not in my legion and its goodBig smile

Just as a note when EFT fittings, I didnt see his pod on the killmails from that time, so you dont want a large hybrid wiring in slot 10 as it adds nothing to the fit.

Having said that that Sacr is very nice, I do love my blasters over missiles but i should have a look at that see if its still viable almost 12 months later.

The Cyclone is a good compromise along these lines as well. It's a tad faster than the Drake, can fit an XL ASB(which its hull bonus helps make quite effective,) has two utility highs, and like the Drake can fit a MMJD for mobility. It also costs a bit less than the Drake, usually. Its Dps is a bit less than the Drake if fitted only with HAMs, but that's the same trade-off you were already looking at.

I know it's a bit off the question you asked, but it might be something to think about if you got free Minmatar BC skill from last year's ship skill revamp.

iv acually developed a bit of curiosity with the Cyclone as of the other night.
one of my corpmates snagged one in an ishkur while it was missioning so it was pve fit,
but mother of jeasus could it tank.
he was using our standard fit (see below) and he couldn't crack it.
not for lack of effort either,
there were three of us bringing him cap boosters and ammo and abandoning drones to keep him going (none of our logi pilots were online)
but after 25 minuets as he was burning over to scoop a drone the Cyclone pilot saw his chance and burned in the opposite direction and got out of point range.

so yes im currently training up shields and Mini Bc

You could use something like this. You only get around 540dps tank without links, but with links and HG crystals you can get 1400dps tank with 2 medium neuts. Does around 600dps without any implants or heat. It's highly dependant on cap boosters and you will run out of cap boosters quite fast with 2 cap boosters, but if you can have people drop off more cap boosters for you then it would be amazing. However it would be alot harder to get aggression from carebears in a Cyclone than it would an Ishkur.

Edit//
It's very cheap though, whole fit will cost you +-100mil and the neuting power, dps and tank is hard to match with anything of a similar price.

Random guess would be that the Ishkur was stuck on the T1 shield resists (making it's blasters relatively worseless, Hobs and Hornets as well) even before tanking mods (which I guess where not anti-Guristas or Serpentis otherwise I'd have to ask what in the world your corpy was thinking engaging that with a Kin/Th boat) and the active tanking bonus. Mad right? Active tanking boni...

That said people new to missioning usually overtank their ships so that might've been it as well.

Back to topic - for small gang probably the Drake or potentially the Cyclone if you insist on missiles.

actually he was asb fit and full of cap boosters so the shields were dropping but he had more than enough charges to lol at the ishkur for ages.
