What exactly is the "new direction"

I keep seeing this come up quoted regarding Crucible, but I can't find out what it is supposed to mean. Is this a quote from a dev blog or something? I searched the forum, and everyone seems to know what "new direction" means but me. Help?

If you like polished features, balancing, bug fixes, general improvements and overall flying-in-space excellence, you will like the new direction.

If you enjoy walking in stations and half-finished expansions, you will be disappointed.

I don't always post on the forums, but when I do, I post with my main.

I'm so glad they moved away from Walking in Stations and are focusing on Ships in Space Stuff.

WIS got love, enjoy your new 3 alternative domeciles. I'd rather see their resources aimed at issues the players have been asking to get fixed for years now..

We're on a roll.. Rockets, Hybrids, New Ships, Engine Trails, Anomalies, just a little more mate, you'll get your time.

Prior to Crucible, there were a series of mistakes and missteps on CCP's part -- leaked e-mails, broken promises, the impression that the players were more valuable as 'cash cows' than customers, and a seriously botched Incarna launch, to name only a few.

The result was a personal written apology from CCP's CEO (where he pretty much went willingly under the headsman's axe to take the blame for the debacle) the laying off of a portion of CCP's staff, and a 'refocusing' that included the restructuring and relocation of the Customer Service department, the indefinite hold of Incarna features, and a return to EVE's core concepts and design goals.

The 'new direction' is that CCP declared shortly before announcing Crucible that they're narrowing their primary development to pretty much just the EVE universe so they can focus as many resources as possible on its development.

I can't get rid of my darn signature!  Oh, wait....

CCP took eve players money for granted. Then they realised that's not the case when 8% quit in the months following incarna. Trying to get these players back is the "new direction".

Well seeing what CCP did in 6 weeks (thats what CCP stated) there are plenty recources left to keep everybody happy.
I am not asking to stop the direction they have with FIS ,imagine what could happen in 6 months ,even with a small team on WIS
putting WIS (not talking about Incarna) on ICE ,is one step in the wrong direction, backwards

But thats my opinion ,hopefully a lot more share the same.
WIS doesn,t have to hold back FIS even if they work a little on it

grtz WIS/FIS lover oldbut

So I can look amazing when you encounter me after having violenced your internet spaceboat, of course.

I also have boots and pants, for no other practical reason then acute OCD for black clothing (also largely because this character accrued all the 'free Aurum' giveaways from CCP and had enough to buy it).

lol just doing some pvp with some 0.0 friends lately so who knows you get your chance some day to turn my spaceboat into scrap ,i am not that good in pvp yet.
Or maybe some day after i spam cowardly the warpbutton and manage to escape, you catch me feeling safe in a station ,you run me down the corridors and put a fist between my eyes ,just before i look at that amazing shirt of yours

is that not an appealing thought

I've often wondered about this.

If 8% was all it needed for they to sack 20% of their staff, all but can a game and do a 180 degree change of plans on another, how precarious is the financial state?

This isn't an "EVE is dying!!" claim just an open question.

Those 8% represent a lot more than 8,000 raw subscription fees, think about all the PLEX sales/use they lost in those numbers. I don't really know though, I have no numbers and am just guessing. Anyway 10% of total revenue is very substantial, especially if it continues to roll downhill which in the mmo industry could be fatal.

Also, remember how little blue posts there were before? What community management was actually going on? I'm pretty sure the fact that they would only log on to indiscriminately ban people and lock threads was telling of the general work environment of that branch.
