Winter is coming! (and why it is bad for CCP)

So short that it could be its own TL;DR, the fact is that there is a pattern of different quality of past expansions, depending on when they were developed. Summer expansions, developed during winter, used to be weaker than winter expansions, developed during summer. The pattern of "meh / wow" is quite noticeable: Incursion (wow) Incarna (MEH) Crucible (wow) Inferno (meh) Retribution (wow) Odyssey (meh) Rubicon (wow)

As CCP relies on foreign talent, and weather in Iceland is quite extreme in terms of daylight hours, there could be a external cause to the different performance, with shorter days in winter leading to poorer performance. And now with several releases to be started/completed during winter, maybe would be wise to be extra careful and don't do anything (too much) irreversible. Blink

Thus, I would advise CCP Seagull one thing: winter is coming! Ugh

There are lamps providing 10,000 Lux incandescent light, which is about as bright as a middle European clear winter's daylight.

I am pretty sure they can cope with the lack of daylight ours.

I don't need to see Icelandic birth-rate statistics broken down by month for the last 100 years to know what is occupying people's time and attention during the long and dark winters there.


You should be more "concerned" about what is coming in 6-weeks, since CCP isn't on a bi-annual release cycle any more.

The people of Iceland have managed to muddle through a winter or two over the last thousand years. I don't foresee a major breakdown in the upcoming one.

Canadian Sunshine is what makes us so agreeable. Do you really want Canadian sunshine as the driving force in EVE?

I'm trying to decide whether to support sending Canadian weather to Iceland, (thus giving me all the nice southern weather), feel sorry for them and not send them Canada's crappy weather, or just shout "Blame Canada!"

Cold war, which came out in 2005 was a rather decent expansion, we got a lot of cap ships we have now, and lvl 4 missions, and other such things.

Bloodlines in 06 got us new bloodlines this was a carrier over from RMR

Revelations 2, came out in 2007, made some ok changes to a few things. Though if this was the one that brought on constellation sov then yea it sucked.


Empyean Age in 08 brought us factional warfare

Apocaryto in 09 is considered one of eves greatest expantions. brought us wormholes

Tryannis 2010 brought us PI

Incarina 2011 could of been cool but we know why it wasn't

Your premise is WAY off. And there have been a few winter expansions that were meh as well.

Kronos was not a bad expantion, crius was good as well, both of these were done during the winter.
