I like it, also for the ability to filter out types of notifications. perfect

I have silenced the sound effect, though. It sounds like a cardboard box sliding across the floor, and not very space-like.

Online/Offline notifications for contacts "flooding" (my) notification window sometimes.

I was looking for something like "right click" -> "Edit Contact" (on Notification Feed element) to disable the "Add contact to watchlist" checkbox. Or ~ "Esc" -> "Configure Notifications" to disable this specific type of notification.

This is a proposal. If I have overlooked an option, then please tell me where.

that's a good one.

i find myself removing contacts who aren't relevant to me anymore, and I have to click on the avatar thumb to get the right-click option to remove from contacts, could this be expanded to the whole notification field?

You mean in the Notification options under Contacts "Watched Contact Online"/"Watched Contact Offline", where you can turn off/on whether that message should be stored in the Notifs or not and whether you want to see a popup or not? And if you want to remove them from your watch list, you go to Peoples and Places -> Contacts -> Search for the char in question -> Right click it -> Edit Contact -> uncheck Add to Watchlist.

Ahh, I missed the "Notification Settings" button in the lower left. - Perfect. Thanks.

But context menu options within Notification History seem to be quite useful (for me).

They are there, but you need to right click the char portrait to get the right click menu. This, however, only works on players; agents portraits don't open the right click menu.

there's still the matter of disabling that category of notifications, which sounds about right imo

By "that category" you mean the storing of chars logging in/out in the Notification list?

It looks like it belongs on a social media network, not in a video game. It looks like a speaker, when it could look like anything else. How about just a special button inside a golden textured-amarr-spaceship-like circle down there, instead of something that looks T-A-C-K-Y as all hell and belongs on facebook, twitter, or even the speaker symbol for MAC OSes? Why can't the HUD and objects in this GAME look and behave more like a GAME? The behavior of Bioshock HUD and controls comes to mind.

The notification button looks very mundane and non-immersive of a game, and non-representative of EVE.

Don't kid yourselves. Even the dirtiest pirates from the birth of EVE have been carebears. They use alts to bring them goods at cheap prices and safely, rather than live with consequences of their in game actions on their main, from concord to prices

Yeah Rivr that's what I took from it. Maybe you want them on watchlist, just not in notifications.

...and an easy way to say "don't show me these types of notifications"

Turn it off in the notification settings as described above?

Maybe some people want more functionality than boolean. Like, for instance, having some people pop up but not others, or having only people show up in the notifications, and not people, skills, and insurance, etc.

It would be nice if "contact on watchlist logged" in notifications would be marked as read when you click them to view the contact's info. If I clicked the notification it most certainly qualifies as having read it.

I like it. Very sleek.

I would absolutely love if the icon snapped into the overview though.

I guess this goes into expanding the range of functions of the Watch List itself, and many people are already very mad about the power it currently holds. For the rest (skills, insurance, wars, etc.) you can turn that all off so that it does not show in the Notification history.

*has the feeling that he's not seeing some important point about turning off notification items*

A sort of Filter for the items in the history, however, could be interesting.

it's a really small thing. fleet broadcasts has "don't show me this type of notification." small, but familiar.

Ok, now I see what you mean; took me long enough... Ugh Yep, the right-click context menu certainly could benefit from the option "Ignore this notification type" like in the fleets.

By the way, this is bugging me for quite some time now: Can we please have consistent Gear icons in the game? We have an opaque gear in all the places (chats, market, char sheet, etc.), but in the Notification window we have a wireframe gear. This is apparently so hard to see and recognize as the icon to open the settings that so many people are incapable of finding it. Roll

ccp if you could please add undocking warning confirming notification when you have suspect timer,!
it's very not nice when you not notice it, and you die after undocking and lose expensive implant set,
and if you like you can reimburse me one set of it, it would be nice ^_^
