Cosmic Jihadi is ganking new players.

While I wouldn't bother if someone incidentally killed a new player in the course of their game play, I think this pattern of selectively targeting newbs is rather disturbing.

I sent him a mail and warned him. Guess we'll see if he continues...

tl;dr version:

After some debate and (stuff), I invited Cosmic Jihadi to the thread. I didn't agree with everything he did/said, but acknowledged his play style. He left and found a home with CODE., which seemed appropriate. The thread was derailed by (who else?) and Leto got the last word.

Thus ends my first C&P thread.

None of those systems on that kill board are "rookie systems" where attacking new players in prohibited.

Why shouldn't a newbie ganker be able to go after newbie miners? Isn't conflict like this part of the game?

Do you expect a new player who wants a ganking career to start with Mackinaws and Hulks right away? Just like a mining career where you start out in a mining frigate, a ganker often starts with the small fish, like Ventures before going after the whales.

^ Excellent question.
You have warned him to stop his legitimate gameplay activities.

How do you intend to back that up?

Edit: Further investigation reveals that the ganker in question is himself a new player. This puts an additional spin on the conversation.

Received a response to my mail.
Unfortunately I cannot reproduce any of it, even in C&P, without violating the forum rule:

Discussion of real life religion and politics is strictly prohibited on the EVE Online forums. Discussions of this nature often creates animosity between forum users due to real life political or military conflicts. That being the case , and given his name, I think it's fair to say he's doing role-play right (ish)

I am confused. What is the maximum allowable difference in age between characters for them to engage in PvP?

Two of his five kills were older than him, one a 2012 character. Are those kills legit?

And, while we are at it, when does a new player stop being new? From your post I guess it is somewhere between 1 and 37 days, but it isn't quite clear to me when that transition takes place.

Less than two months old and already nomming on his fellow pilots? I'd say he's doing it right.
Perhaps 'Killer Newbie' would have been a better title.

Meh, kinda lame to target new players. -1

Only redeeming part of this thread is that a CONCORD Approved Trader showed up...they should really have a certificate for that, and some kind of mandatory ethics course.

Seriously. Please explain how - in even the slightest way - your (hilarious) warning to stop a legitimate gameplay style results in discussion of "real world politics" or even better "religion"??

How do either of those involve blowing up players in an internet spaceship game about blowing up internet spaceships?

I dunno Leto (and all), I got a mail filled with RL zealotry. I could accept and deal with RP stuff, that's just part of the game, you know. And I really don't care about ganking either, for the same reasons. The newb killing thing I'm not so forgiving, that is what set me off. Something just didn't seem right, especially after the comment left in local. Some NPE, getting that thrown at you.

Sigh, defend the gameplay if you wish, but the RL zealotry isn't an easy pass. Not in Eve, and not with me.
I haven't sent anything to CCP, it's not how I prefer to deal with things.
Haven't decided what to do yet...
