You can, but being classy isn't a requirement to add content. Eve is a more interesting and entertaining place when people indulge in a little role play even when that persona is something we would not want to encourage in our friends or family in real-life.


I think that as long as it is keep in the game, many people indulge behaviour like this is because it can be fun and produces excellent content. It is a game - be the villain and all.


This game is about conflict so there are bound to be people who have differences over how to play the game. Engaging carebears can be done with kind words and encouragement, or they can be engaged by taunting and exploding their ships. I'm not to say which is more efficient, but certainly there are enough stories of both approaches working. At the very least, villainous personas like Feyd's provide an enemy for carebears to rally against. But also, you have to remember that you can choose to play Eve with no regard what-so-ever for "engaging carebears" - you can play for whatever motivations you want.

The problem is that some carebears can't accept (or just haven't yet realized) that New Eden is a competitive sandbox explicitly designed for people to play as villains. Just because someone plays the game as a narcissistic sociopath, doesn't mean that they are so out of the game. In fact, I bet most of these "evil space villains" are much more adjusted people in real-life then the all-too-common carebear-type who flings vile homophobic, racist and even threatening remarks at their fellow players after their mining barge explodes from under them.

The third step is to realize it is pointless to bargain. No, we will not be letting your tackled pimp-fit PVE battleship go, because you offer us the replacement cost of a T1 Heron. No, we will not alter our methods of converting carebears into predators themselves, through the holy fire we bring to our interactions with them.

The fourth step is to overcome your depression, associated with being non-consensually anally probed by one of our holy inquisitors perhaps? Instead you must embrace detonation as a learning opportunity.

The fifth step is acceptance & renewal, where you join us in shooting others in the face. Only by putting down your mining lasers can you hope to finally achieve pewgasm in EvE, as GOD himself intended at the revealing of the EvE gate, and flocks of mediocrity-blinded MMO players stumbled out of WoW and into the great universal unknown.

Now, it is well known that a carebear must hit rock bottom first, before he reaches that moment of clarity where he is willing to take the inward-looking steps necessary to move forward towards enlightenment. That is where we come in, helping carebears hit rock-bottom since 2011, and for many years to come.

think about the hilarity of this for a moment. player only engages miners and pve'ers if solo. player only goes after pvp fit ships when he has a handful of friends with him. player refuses to engage gangs unless he outnumbers them 4 to 1.
