So is anyone using the new machine to play? If so how does it look?

Let me know when you've played on it...only thing stopping me from buying is whether Eve runs OK on it.

295 or 290 GPU?

To put it bluntly, the iMac 5k screen resolution is s little but much for the EVE client, I have done my best to optimize the setting to no avail. I have upscaled the GUI to 150% with the highest resolution possible, and it looks small and hard to read. The graphics are "ok" but EVE is just not built for the resolution of that kind. The could update it to make it more friendly to the high resolution 27 inch retina display, but for now it is sub par.

I also want to buy the Retina iMac for EVE, Im not sure to save 500-700 dollars and just get normal 27 iMac or upgrade to Retina. If it is used only for gaming, is it worth it?

I would like to get a 5k for other 'work', but it must be able to play Eve. So other than not looking up to par, it still works fine yes?

Also, I assume multiple clients running at full resolution on smaller windows should be no problem for the new iMac?

I have got mine now, and I find it very nice. If I run an Eve client in Window mode with a resolution of 2560x1400 it still fills the screen, but with decent UI size. I agree that running on full-res makes the UI a bit small (similar experience as running hi-res on the MacBook retina screen).

My personal setup right now is to run the main client at 4094x1400 spanning 1.6 Thunderbolt displays, and an alt-client on the main monitor in 2560x1440. This seems (so far) to be working very well!

I also use the new Mac 5K to play EVE. Personal I use it on Bootcamp with Windows 8.1. My Rig comes with the 4790K and the R 295X graphic Gard.

First thing you should know is that you only get 3840x2160 on your Bootcamp PC! It´s a driver or Windows 8.1 limitation. But that´s no big deal, because you need very good Eyes unless you use UI Scaling.

I am total happy with the max out about 3200x1800 without UI Scaling. It takes me a bit time to manage to hit the right buttons in PVP Situations, but for now I am happy. For now I got all Chat Windows, the Map, couple of info Screens like D-scan and so on simulary on my screen wihtout missing the famous nebulars of new eden.

Important! If you disable in Game Anti-Alaising you manage to get sweet 60 FPS without any drops (by using vertical sync). Otherwise you got beween 50-90, sometimes 120 FPS.

Why Vertical sync?
simple, smooth gameplay and nearly no Graphic Card Fan that´s disruped my Gameplay atmosphere

Why disable in Game AA?
because there is no visible different between AA ON and OFF by using such a high resolution in my opinion. All other settings are set to max.

any other questions? convo me in Game if you want
