Continuing this week's trend of terrible space-related news, Virgin Galactic's SpaceShipTwo has crashed following experiencing an "in-flight anomaly" during a powered test flight. Nasawatch reports that the spacecraft itself is a total loss, with one crew member recovered with "moderate neck injuries" and another body being reported as still in the wreck.

Given that the test involved replacing the fuel mix with a more powerful alternative, fingers are already being pointed towards the possibility that the engine was simply run to hard.

The WhiteKnightTwo carrier aircraft landed safely.

We WILL do better. This is the unfortunate side effect of pushing boundaries, but it will all be worth it in the long run.

Nope. It's all over. This was mankind's last chance to build a spaceship and now that we have failed our space age is over. We must resign ourselves to the fact that future generations will fight ever more devastating wars over earth's resources and our great grandchildren will be eating soylent green to survive.
