A little in-game trick for jump planning post-Phoebe

There are great out-of-game tools to find one's best route. For example, the jump planner
of Dotlan. Also, most established alliances have developed browser-based tools to navigate
their blues' jumpbridge networks and cyno beacons. In-game there is at least rudimentary
support, as the starmap can be set to show one's alliance's jumpbridges at least.

But there is no immediate way to see "what systems are in my immediate jump range?"
Post-Phoebe there is a little trick that does just that for most cap pilots. Here's how:

Post-Phoebe most jump capable ships will have a max range of 5.0 light years after skills.
Now, there is a skill called "Remote Sensing". It determines how far you can scan planets
for planetary interaction purposes. If you have jump skills, you already have the prerequisite
Science III. Remote Sensing takes only a few hours to train to level 3.

Then, at level 3 your planetary scan radius will be the same 5.0 ly as your jump range.
Go to the star map and show "Stars" > "My Information" > "Planet Scan Range".

Voila, you now see all the systems that are in jump range, and if you hoover over one,
it will even tell you the distance in lightyears.

Or you could use the proper jump window in game that you have to bind to a key in the Shortcuts window area first called Capital Navigation.

If I am correct, that windows shows you cynos and beacons in range, but not systems (with or without cyno present).

It is another useful tool, though.

Archinquisitor, you didn't just show how to adapt, did you? In the EVE-O general discussion forum?

Delete your OP immediately and replace with a rant like any normal forumite would do.

Anyway, +1 from me for that rare bit of solid info in this cesspit of tears and drama.

Just FYI.. Dotlan does have such a tool..
Navigation->Range. Put inship/skills and start system. Press go. NOt updated to pHoebe of course because it's not actually released on Tq yet though.

Yeah there is. Get in your cap ship, open the star map, and unflatten it.
It displays a sphere for your current jump range.

We're all scrubs flying rifters in the cesspit called highsec while our goon ubermensch overlords fly kiting naglafars with perfect tracking that go 5 km/s and has a 50 au/s warp speed.

At least that's what the missioning carebear in a purple fitted navy raven told me.

So bad it should have suspect flagged him.

Idea Archinquisitor is better at making a functional UI than CCP and he probably doesn't even know a thing about game development.

I'd rather have a functioning game than a flashy and beautiful UI that's just there without anything for it to work on.
