The stars look great until you click on the descriptions.

My alt is in bournes right now and this is what she pulls up when looking at the local star:

Description: Sun K5 (red Giant)

Attributes:

Luminosity: 0.01 (1% of our sun - fair enough)
Age 10,324,000,000 (10.4 billion so that's old also fair enough)

Radius (143,500km) That's a ******* Gas Giant at best a brown dwarf not a Red Giant!

Spectral Class K6V This is totally different to the Description Tag!
Temperature 3910k (believable)

So anyhow. It seems such a shame that the stars had a recent overhaul for visuals when stuff like this is totally wrong and contrafictory so I'm asking CCP when wil this be fixed. You could have volunteers do it if need be...

Radius of our Sun ( a yellow main sequence and not a red giant)

695,800 km (1 R☉)

Fixing flavour text for game mechanics unrelated stuff is very low priority.

Maybe one of the CSM stumbled over the post-it note on the floor while wandering through some desolate part of the HQ while on the grand quest for the nearest restroom.

I wonder if the K5 vs K6 is a rounding error.

This bug is ruining my EVE experience. Soon I will unsub and uninstall. I will go be good at Excel 2010 instead. Less flavor errors there. Fix it CCP.

Email ur reply asap CCP.

Who cares about that text anyway....

I'd rather see the stars get dimmer as you get further away from them rather than any sort of description text change.

Well I think that changing text in a database and pushing it out to each client in the next update has got to be easier and less time consuming that actually changing the visual effects of the stars themselves which happened recently.

I have heard that part of the process has been done and realistic stars are on their way...

As much as I hate to knock off the efforts of the poor soul who re-worked the star appearances recently, this is something that I would liked to have seen with that make-over. The fact that there's no discernible difference between 1 AU and 100 is a bit of a shame... not game-breaking, but it's those little things that count.

This is a gamebreaking bug. I r unsub.

In all seriousness, the manpower required to go through every bit of text in game, and fact check it for 105% accuracy according to every text book ever made, is a serious waste of effort when it could be applied to fixing actual gamebreaking bugs.

Anyways, this game takes place 25000+ in the future, so how do you know that their scientific understanding isn't so much more advanced than our current science that they have corrected our neanderthalic science and therefore the text you are seeing is actual correct? Hmmmm?

Plus, Eve online Science is based not on actual physics, but on Fluidic Universe physics. So go fly your damn space submarine and enjoy the GAME.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Why did you pick a star with a relatively minor error?

You should have picked one of the stars that give a ridiculous age like 45 billion years.

On that note, it would be nice if the devs provided us with a value for the viscosity of free space in SI units (so Pa*s or kg/[s*m]).

Sails don't work in underwater space. Well except for solar sails. But the stars are too small to provide enough solar wind? And even if the stars were big enough, the solar wind would also be slowed down by EVE's submarine ether-esque medium thus making solar sails impractical.

Which begs the question, how many atmospheres of pressure are EVE hulls rated for?

Wouldn't TiDi explain that?

It's the first thing you do when dealing with works of fiction. Otherwise, you can't convince the judge you know right from wrong, fact from something someone made up. In short, that you're sane enough to testify.

[spoiler alert! 3 - 10 year old players should read no further]

Nobody can live on the north pole with a bunch of reindeer. Can you believe that?
Bunnies don't wear ties and hop around with baskets of eggs once a year. Can you believe that?
Graves don't open up and spirits walk around the streets once a year. Can you believe that?
Harry Potter's magic wand doesn't really work. Can you believe that?
Batman cannot beat up Superman. Conversely; Superman cannot beat up Batman. Can you believe that?

However, there was a whale named Moby D!ck, but there was no sea captain named Ahab!

CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?

So the next time you self-styled geniuses out there apply your infallible logic-producing machines (read: BRAINS) to ferreting-out fictional failures to conform to objective reality, remember one thing:

WE DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT.

It would be something if red giants actually were depicted in the appropriate scaling. An entire system swallowed by one would be neat.
