Many Americans seam to have the belief halloween is a US/Canadian celebration for some reason, a lot of my corp seam to be amazed we celebrate halloween over here in the UK.

well just a little history here Halloween is originally a celtic celebration called the festival of Samhain, later it was taken in by the Christian to celebrate the feast of All Hallows (the 1st of November) hence the name all hallows eve.

now halloween is celebrated is celebrated not only across most of europe and north america but also in asia and australia through the influence of American pop-culture commercialized variant

I believe its called Hállóvínnókksbruþörríkkáðodiséénn in Iceland. Instead of candy they give the children hakarl and brennivin, which they stuff into a sheep's intestine that each kid carries around that is tied off at one end. When their intestine is full, they tie off the other end and then bury it in the ground, and are only allowed to eat it the following year.

close, it was actually created by christens as a means to mockingly harass and intimidate wiccan's and others who faith kept the practice of all hallows eve by not leaving their house's, or opening the door, during this night.... "open your door and give us treats, or we will vandalize your house!!!!"


but I do enjoy having a reason to buy several 20 pound bags of mixed candy for the two trick or treaters i get each year.

"Holiday" (holy day?) On this the unholiest of days, when the undead roam the streets and threaten the souls of the living...no, it's not a "yank" invention. Read your own history - especially jolly old England. Not a Christian invention, either. (Holy moley.)

Tomorrow is the holiday - All Saints Day, the church's attempt to respond to All Hallow's Eve (Hallow E'en)
since they couldn't force the locals to drop it.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.
