I've been through 50+ systems, scanning for relic/data sites, I didn't find one!
Whats the point in uping the payout of the sites in the next patch if you can't find any?
why not half the payout, but double the chance of actually finding one to be able to GET the payout?

Personally, I like the idea of spending weeks training tech 2 salvagers / noctis / sal rigs not to include hundreds of millions of ISK (T2 sal rigs 30 mil each) just to churl over level 4 missions salvage at around 1-2 mil each (excluding loot).

Then of course the mining... mine full cargo hold of Kernite = 3.2 mil. Travel null, mine same cargo hold of that "A" mine (from the A,B,C of minerals to get - cant remember what its called) anyway, 2.4 mil. Yeah I get regional variations and also mine to build rather than sell but still... WTF

You have done well to not get ganked, or gate camped to even find some relic sites.

I hope your getting more enjoyment out this game then I am, months in and bored out my head at gate camps, roaming fleets to kill sole ships etc

Huh, just unlucky is my guess. I undocked last night to two relic sites and the night before that I ran two data sites a few jumps from home.

I think I can safely say that I have jumped 50 systems over on the East side of the map without finding a relic site.

Fully scanning down 50 systems and not finding a single relic or data site seems like ridiculously bad luck to me. Unless you didn't pay attention to the fact that this profession is commonly referred to as exploration, meaning "to boldly go where no one has gone before". What worked for me is finding less populated systems, e.g. by using the map filters "players in space ..." and "players currently docked and active", and also using timeslots that are less busy. This resulted in finding a site roughly every 12 highsec or 4 lowsec systems. I have yet to venture into null, but am confident to get even better results there, since, quoting a certain FC, "None of these dudes are in space, these [people involved in sexual intercourse] don't play the game."
Another take on this which i overheard in local though was to use reverse psychology and scan down the signatures exactly along the trade routes, since most explorers "don't even try".
In the end, just remember that almost everybody wants to get rich quickly, so in the end all moneymaking activities converge towards the same isk/effort/creativity/risk/hour ratio. I hope this post was helpfull and wish you the best of luck, but slightly less than me in the future.

Is it possible you have a filter set to where your ship automatically ignores data/relic sites? I make this mistake from time to time.

Also, are you talking high sec, or null?

leave high sec and you will prob find one or two

I don't believe you, because I've just probed out two adjacent constellations and found 50+ relics and datas. Maybe get out of high sec, and away from the competition.

I was talking about null myself. Relic sites in null are pretty crappy these days. In high or low you would be better off belt ratting!
