Suggestion for the EvE Map

I'm a new Player and i have noticed that when i'm out looking for 0.5-0.7 area's I'm looking at all the stargates and connections on the EvE Map.

However there is one slight problem which i have found. I'm sometimes left Guessing if some systems are connected to each others.. I will go to a system and think "Oh i can jump to that one because the line crosses it" When in actual fact the line is Stretching ACROSS the system i want and is connecting to another further down.

What i am suggesting is that when you highlight over a system have the "connecting" lines change to a different colour so you can get a feel for where they go.

Prime example of what i'm talking about is On the flattened map is "Castlemon" and "Perckhevin" They're right next to each other and i'm not quite sure if they connect or not.

What do you guys think?

Dotlan is a brilliant alternative. Bookmark it in your ingame browser.

On the ingame map, though, selecting the system in question brings up the names of the systems it connects to on the map. Small print, but it's there. The info panel also gives a list.

Otherwise, play around with the lines-tab in the map panel.

Every once in a while when encountering an issue like the OP, I'll expand the Star Map and view it un-flattened in it's 3D mode. Also view it like that if I'm setting up an alternate route to travel.

Gotta say though most of the time I'm just checking system population / jump stats so I mainly view the Star Map in flattened mode.

Or press F11 for minimap which however has issues if you're not familiar with it so most of the time it's dotlan or go home.
Edit: or you can do it like as old farts who don't need a map anyway. Cool

i suggest that the map updates faster.

someone told me the other day that it updates every 20 mins or so...

so the numbers you get for average pilots in space or jumps in last hour etc is old data.

Though Ombey is gone now, I still like to use his map:
